no the Phase 2 motor was one of the prototypes prior to the final motors in our cars..
It was the second phase of development
G8nightman, you are thinking of the Gen 2 LT5

Anyone know the auction time slot on TV this will be on? Live? Like to check this one out if I'm able
It will be auctioned on Saturday Jan 13th. It will probably cross the block around 5pm, hope it breaks the bank!

That car is just so cool I can hardly stand it! :-)
I hope its uniqueness, rarity and incredible restoration story are highly rewarded. It's a fantastic piece of history. What a find and what an effort to revive it to such high quality.

That is one of the U.K. crushed cars.

Yes, I believe that it will be delayed. It will be live on www.mecum.com

I love that color combo...that blue looks so good in the sun. What's up with the bra on the back fascia? Never seen that before....

Yes, that IS Brett's car. We chatted about the sale a bit while waiting for the rest of the Board members to join the conference call last night.
The other prototype, IIRC, belongs to Yager (Mid Am Motorwrks (http://www.mygaragemuseum.com/)) and can be seen at his museum in Effingham, IL.

They were doing that all the way back then, wow...... I guess car magazines have had prying eyes forever lol. That is really cool, the seller including that. Adds a nice touch......

Hmm.....Considering the average price of low mileage Zs are going for low 20 s,I would think 110K is a good selling price...

That's good when a seller doesn't feel like they have to take less than what they think the car is worth. Hold on to it until there's a buyer willing to pay. Who, knows, the auction may have given it a few more eyeballs, eventually leading to a sale.

Very disappointing to say the least :-(
the 1970 ZR1 only got to $130,000 and bid goes on
The 1988 proto-type only got to $110,000 and bid goes on

I respectfully disagree. Mecum has way better sales results regarding vintage stock Corvettes vs BJ. The 89 preproduction ZR1 that crossed the block last year at BJ had no bidding on it and the owner had to buy it back. Bretts car appeared to have money on it at least although it was not enough to get it done.

Some of the prior results might also have been driven by the GM heritage sell off

Point taken, however an important point to consider is the fact that BJ would have demanded that car go no reserve and if the bidding did not go as hoped, the owner is stuck paying the buy and sell premium (18% total). Not exactly an ideal situation for an owner with a valuable car in a thin market.

In my opinion, the auctioneer did work it as hard as they did other cars. It was on the block for less than two minutes. I guess they could tell the bidders just wasn't there.
There was only one other ZR-1 at auction. A Green/Tan 1990 with 733 miles. it sold for $27,000.00.

Someday there will be someone with the dough and desire to own it. I'm sure there are a few hundred guys here with the desire.

They can demand all They want, yet there's still "special" cars that have reserve's why couldn't he?
Just costs more

I agree with you but at Scottsdale, a vehicle has to have a minimum of a 500K value before they will even consider putting a reserve on it. They get 5K consignments and pick 1700 cars so they are in the drivers seat.
