There's a thread from a few years back about a carbon fiber top group buy.
http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21936

Does anyone know what the final cost was/is? Is it still possible currently to order one of these tops? I'm at least curious, since all I have is the glass top.

American Hydrocarbon doesn't show it on their site, but I'm hoping we have some insider info floating around here...

I had nothing buy problems with american hydrocarbon that went on and on......
Delays, lies and more lies.

Go to a wrap shop. They can do a wrap in an hour.

Was their targa top a carbon wrapped fiberglass top then?

There was a guy on digital corvettes a bunch of years ago that made carbon fiber tops. He was looking to sell the equipment to make them though

Too bad no one has made carbon fiber targa tops of the ZR-1 and C4s. The C4 tops are heavy--about 27 lbs for the painted one and about 23 lbs for the clear. The painted carbon fiber targa top on my 2016 Z06 weighs about 15-18 lbs and comes off with three simple latches. Much lighter and much easier to remove.--Bob

No, You are incorrect. I have one of the American hydrocarbon targas on my daily driver. However it is carbon fiber. You can lift it with ease with one hand and looks great. Another member bought as well.. I think zr1north. American Hydrocarbon stopped making them after only a handful due to problems in production. One thing was they could not reuse the small black metal trim surround you see on our tops so they simulated it in black resin. This was prone to bubbling in the edging. They out scourced this product and all I can tell you was it was only an option for about 3 months before they would sell no more. As such the group buy never occurred.

If you find another vendor I suggest you use a separate targa from your painted or glass top. That way your tops don't get damaged in the shipping process getting to the vender. I paid for another top so the vendor already had a top in hand that needed to be shipped only once. I have heard so many horror stories about damaged targa tops in the mail. GC

That's badass. I like the look of the black lexan, but not all of the sunlight. The Carbon Fiber has the cool, black look to it, and shade.

I think it looks pretty cool as well. However what I really like is that you can handle it with reduced weight. Makes for easier off and on nice weather changes. GC
