Another WAZOO.....Gettysburg Picture Thread....

Good afternoon everyone.....my wife and I just returned home from the WAZOO....Gettysburg outing just a short time ago....along with everyone else....we had a great time.
And with everyone else in attendance.....we would like to say a big thanks to Jim, Nelson and Darrin for putting this event together and their hospitality....very much appreciated.....

Between Alexis and myself we took over 150 pics from start to finish....we will take you through our day with our eyes as the event took place. Keep in mind that some pics were taken through the windshield and may not be as clear as what they should be.....but still interesting nonetheless.....

Alexis and I left @6:15AM from our house on the 108 mile journey to Jim's WAZOO's Garage in MD....we then were greeted by the group and received the final instructions on the day's event.....

We all left Jim's Garage and headed out on the back roads on the trip to Nelson's Garages which was the next destination on our Gettysburg trip....
I had Alexis take some action shots of the caravan the best that she could. She did manage to get front and back shots....along with some of the beautiful scenery along the way....

next off....headed to the Battlefields of Gettysburg.....we have been there many, many times as have others......if you haven't been there....IMO....you should make an attempt at one time or another to visit.....words cannot express the feelings one gets when walking on these grounds....
with that said....Darrin shared his knowledge on many facets of the Civil War which were very quite interesting.....thank you Darrin for info on this time in History......

To elaborate on the last stop this is the Friend To Friend Monument. It depicts an interaction between Confederate General Lewis Armistad and Union Captain Henry Bingham. Capt Bingham was a staff officer to Union General Winfield Hancock. Hancock and Armistad had served in the US army for many years together prior to the war of northern aggression. They had been the best man in each others weddings. Gettysburg was the first time these commanders faced each other on the battlefield. Armistad was one of the few confederates who made it across the stone wall during Pickett's charge. He was wounded and fell on the field. To elaborate on the last stop this is the Friend To Friend Monument. It depicts an interaction between Confederate General Lewis Armistad and Union Captain Henry Bingham. Capt Bingham was a staff officer to Union General Winfield Hancock. Hancock and Armistad had served in the US army for many years together prior to the war of northern aggression. They had been the best man in each others weddings. Gettysburg was the first time these commanders faced each other on the battlefield. Jeff, don't know where exactly you are located in CA......but this guy Michael Robles started a FB Page recently. He has a ZR-1 among other Vettes that he owns....IIRC, he may already be a member here.....not sure though (actually can't remember.....lol) but he is also trying to get some activities together in Southern CA. His group is opened to all Vettes from what I understand... but might work out for you.......

Hi Jeff, The way to get an event like this one is to start small and work up. The first years of WAZOO (before we even had a name) were "events" with three guys and two ZR-1's. As we met more owners, I built an email list and the group grew.

Thanks to Jim Darrin & Nelson for organizing such an event. Several years ago, Karen & I had the pleasure of a personal tour of Gettysburg by Darrin. It was the highlight of our trip and an unforgettable memory.

I have enjoyed a long friendship with Jim & Phil. Both are cornerstone members of the Registry, always offering their knowledge & assistance to other ZR-1 family members. Jim, Darrin, Phil, and others like them, are the real heart of the "beast, that keeps it alive. Wazoo is a living testament to the meaning of brotherhood.

On a side note.....Jim mentioned that there would be a quiz or two at the end of the day.....one of the quiz questions was to count the number of barns along the way......Alexis and I counted 53 barns in both MD & PA combined.....of course it ended up being a trick question......because nobody knew the correct answer.....lol But it was really interesting in the sense that you ended up becoming more aware of your surroundings as you were traveling through the area......a lot of open space and great roads.....I need to get a Hero or other type of motion camera for the next outing.....then you can not only get action shots.....but action video too....just like the drive by video..... hmmmm...something to think about......;)

Thanks Nelson.....all were done with the cell except the last few sets from post #37 on, which were taken by Jim with his camera as he mentioned.....
