Just pulled my cover off with the seal. Soon first look I thought somehow the seal was faulty but it was just dried sealant/gasket maker and it wiped clean. Thoughts ? N

Ok so seems the outer of the seal to housing has rtv as well. Any tips or suggestions on getting it out ? Drilled a few screws through it and it won’t budge. Don’t want to nick the housing for obvious reasons.

Try putting small vise grips on rubber. Well holding them tap with block of wood.

Managed to get it done .. thanks for the input. I was having a tough time given I didn’t want to take any chances nicking or bending the housing or scratching up the inner surface.
Now I’m just undecided as to what I should use for a lube on the seal part that contacts the crank. Any thoughts ? I have amsoil moly grease, online I see some recommending motor oil but I can’t be certain when I will finish, and marine grease etc.
