Just a note for Chicago area folks--the annual Mecum Chicago Auction will be held Thursday through Saturday Oct 4-7 at the Schaumburg convention center // 1551 Thoreau Dr N // Schaumburg, IL I noticed only one ZR-1, a red/red '90 with 325 miles on it. Listed at No reserve so could be interesting. I may go one day as a spectator, with hands firmly planted in pockets. --Bob

I agree although they have sold some low mile examples for strong money. My guess is that this car bring upper 30s.

Got home from work late last night and turned on the TV and saw there was a mecum auction......I'm guessing it was an earlier auction from this year.....They had a 79 anniversary Trans Am cross the block with 800 or so miles on it.......I believe it was a bid goes on at 57,000 if I remember correctly, I was dozing in and out...

Be interesting to see what that low mileage Z will bring in...If its anything less than 30K that would be a disaster..

I will say it will bring 35... though it should bring more. I don't think ZR1s have quite gotten the attention of the collector market as a whole yet, but it will come.

That would be great. I am sure we can hook up at the auction. Marc and I are going over on Friday for perhaps half a day. I will pick him up around 10 at his shop and we plan to get him back there mid afternoon. Don't know if we will be there when the ZR-1 goes across the block but maybe. If you buy advance tickets on line (through Oct4 I think) you save $10 off the normal door admission of $30. --Bob

Well, that would seem to set the high end of the market for 1990s currently. I wouldn't have been interested in it because with its low miles it is basically un-driveable. The collector market will catch up to the story, relative rarity, and performance of these cars one day, but evidently not today.

I'm down in Hershey Pennsylvania now for the eastern region car festival.....If you walk down each and every aisle you would have walked 25 miles......Huge show,very big car corral.....One guy was selling a 79 Boss 429,beautiful condition.....Original sticker price was 5,111 dollars......He wanted 250K....

30K for that low mileage Z.........??? I'm guessing now all the Zs I have seen for over 30K would have to come down on price,it stands to reason...

I actually thought it would bring more considering it has passed the 25 year old threshold....
