the best things is you 'build' or arrange it how you want it.. Tach goes to 9K so it will be fine for most of us

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but could this solve the MS3pro control of the ZR-1 gauges issue? Just spent time with the Megasquirt guys at PRI. They reaffirmed that they would dust off the ZR-1 project if anyone could ever provide a data flow map to the gauges and dash.

I offered some info months ago but hey did not seem interested then. Why the renewed interest? Did you get a price out of them?

Didn't get a price. The guy I was talking to was the project lead on the ZR-1 ECM. He was the one that told me they would dust off the project if they could a decent data flow diagram.

My understanding is that they'll cannot establish full communications with the dash gauges. The guy I was talking to, Matt Cramer, introduced me to the project lead on the ZR-1 ECM. Sorry I didn't get his card. He was the one that told me they had exhausted their leads trying to get the data flow (map) for the ZR-1 instrument cluster and idled the project. You are far more knowledgeable than me regarding their apparent roadblock. I'll get back in touch with Matt to see if I can get the contact info for the ZR-1 project lead. The "box" they had on display is #JZ9298. Believe it was for a Toyota Supra, but he indicated the ZR-1 unit was identical, but had the proper cable sockets to match our plugs.

Sorry I can't be more help, but I wanted to press them while I was at PRI.

Yeah I have emails back and forth with Matt. I don't think are going to get that info, I am guessing all of that is buried in GM

Has anyone asked Graham Behan?

The DIY Tune (Megasquirt) guys know Graham. I think they worked together on the LT-5 Phase 3 engine.

At least I got a response from Matt. If I can get them engaged, I'll need some expertise from you guys.. (Jeff ?)

Hello Steve,
I have passed this on to the team who worked on the ZR-1 ECM and they will get back to you soon. I also found a couple other possible leads on the serial protocol at PRI that we're following up on.

What they want is the message stream that is sent to the CCM I would imagine..

Not sure if I have any of that, Although I do have some CCM stream stuff

This group already has all of that figured out and they use GM OEM hardware.
Looks pretty seamless. Trying to talk to them about doing LT5 adaptation next.

I think we need to get more people from here to contact them. I have been making the case that the LT5 represents as good a market for them as the base C4s. With our ICMs we don’t have alternatives.

Yes.. Nice guy to chat with VIA email.. with enough interest he would explore the possibility

Well dang it Dominic! Impressive and very promising. Would be great to get DIY guys together with these guys since they seem to the ECM/CCM communications figured out.. I'll jump in with support. Would love to have HP Tuners again with my LT-5. Comfortable with TunerPro RT and Craig's box for sure, but this would be a nice step up..:salute:

He doesn’t need the DIY people. His system would run our motors using an LSx PCM. And it would support waste spark or CnP in addition to having full comms w the CCM.

16 injectors and secondaries as well?

Why would that be an issue? U need 8 injector drivers plus a ground to energize
the secondary relays. The 411 has plenty of room for programming to run our motors. And basically, the LT5 ECM is a glorified L98 calibration.

Defer to your experience. I guess in my ignorance I thought the LT-5 required control of 16 injectors versus 8 in the LT-1 & LT-4.

Nope. Only 8 injector drivers. The secondaries are driven by the secondary relays and use the primary injector signal to fire.

-=Jeff=-

yes, but the secondaries work in parallel with the primary per cylinder.. The Duty cycle is cut in 1/2 when all 16 injectors are energized I believe.

It would be cool to have OBD2 features on an OBD1 car..
