No, that belongs to the head of a church...along with all the other cars sitting there. I'll leave it at that.

He's correct.
It's the church's car.
Claimed to be the fastest stock ZR-1.
It must be true.
After-all, they are the church, so who can doubt it?
It's been at Carlisle for many, many years now.

I'm guessing I'm not seeing a stock exhaust system, or should I look at it again.....To me stock is just how you bought it out of the showroom..

Pretty well documented. Claimed 475chp? I'd like to see the dyno sheets.
Maybe Ranger of C6Z06 fame was driving.

Beautiful example of a ZR-1...Correct me if I'm wrong, but 475CHP is not stock..

With a ported motor and headers, I've run 12.4 at 121 mph. Similar setup and Marc Haibeck has turned in a 12.2.
Most all of the ported, headers, aftermarket exhaust 500+ 5.7L (FBI) ZR-1s with stock gears run in that neighborhood. Cutting a 11.89 sec in a stock ZR-1...is pretty remarkable - especially for a 475 chp motor.

My motor put down 397rwhp w headers and ported top end. So depending on the loss conversion u r using 475chp would make sense. But not right out of the box stock.

Jeff, Church of Your full of "CHIT". Stock LT5 going downhill wont break 12.6 @114 MPH. Heck, My Purple Callaway with 510 CHP just broke 12 flat. Now if we are talking Stock bottom end, We all know there is a certain Green ZR-1 that ran 11.02@129 MPH.

a)Technically ported is less than stock, it got a lot less of the stock parts when its ported, duh
b)Somebody didn't take a vow of poverty
c)God doesn't discriminate; apparently he likes German, Italian, and American cars

Might have also skirted the no-fibbing one too.

Yeah Lee, like the "pastor" that needed a new $65,000,000 Gulfstream to do "god's work". Maybe even join the Mile High Club.

Maybe it's Bob Gillig "stock"? Ask Bob about his motor, and he'll (usually) say, "It's a stock LT5!";)
We're all stock aren't we ? I am but I'm not too sure about you guys.

What kind of times are the 500-510 hp Zs seeing? Best I've seen from my 94 stock motor with ported plenum, injector housings, SW headers, untouched heads, and Corsa exhaust was 12.08 @118 running MT DRs.

I also call Bull$hit on that sign in the video. The quickest times recorded for the bone stock ZR-1 are in the 12.80's- 12.90's (Jim Ingles/ Chevrolet test driver). That's with gatorbacks, stock exhaust, etc.
The quickest times for "stock motor" ZR-1's, that's with bolt-ons like exhaust, gears, drag radials, etc., but untouched 375hp..5LT5's, is around 12.00 flat, with 405hp cars turning .10-.20 quicker. There were a couple of 94/95MY cars in the 11.8's twenty years ago, with just drag radials and not much else.
Below, was the best I could do with bone stock engine and every bolton available. I could not break into the elevens, but I chalked that up to driver inability and Florida heat (12.06@80+f.) Chicago cars have the advantage there, running sometimes with 30f cooler air.

Oh, so how does your baby breath way up there at 900ft? :p
Seriously though,10deg f. is usually good for around .10
The old LT5 really responds to cool air.

Bob,
Its a bit tough executing a hole shot in the snow. This time of year and into October is more conducive to some good numbers but then u have the issue of a cold track.

Actually, Pete's is much less than stock. A LOT LESS.
Yes, but it's critical that Pete's car is a "Stock Block" LT5, with displacement and compression unchanged. A "Benchmark" car.
The "cold track" thing is a factor, but that brings in track prep arguments etc.
It's all apples and oranges, and open to dispute if you're all racing at different tracks.
But I'm glad that Pete is racing up in Chicagoland. I'd sure like to see a stock block ZR-1 get into the TENS. :dancing

Pete got as close as u can get without breaking 10s. He also went 154 in the half mile.
