Fuel filter flow direction

Is the fuel filter on the supply side or the return side? Does the fuel flow toward the front or rear of the vehicle? I am replacing it but I think maybe the one installed is reversed?

The filter is in the supply line going to the fuel rail. There should have a direction arrow on the filter.

That is what I thought. Flows to front. Someone previous installed it backwards. Sheesh

Maybe he thought the engine made gas or he was mounting on the return line!
