View Full Version : $110,000 ZR-1 hood drop w/door open
This is suppose to be a no no for the 4th gen Corvette.
It is at the 2:18 mark.
Nice car!
Been thinking about getting another Z lately.

Is that on bat or eBay?

Actually it is a great video to show people who might want a ZR-1 but weren't quite sold on it. Very enthusiastic. But if the car is available (and it can't possibly be for $110,000) the question is why didn't Uncle Pete's nephew step up and buy it? And by he way I always dropped my hood from about a foot up on both my ZR-1s over 20 years of ownership. No problems, although it was always with the doors closed as far as I can recall. --Bob

Dealers were charging up to $40,000.00 over sticker!

I thought it was a great video all the way around. When I saw the headline, I was expecting a hood drop from fully open...
To Pete and his nephew who made this: Great job!!! The ZR-1 needs more exposure vids like these. Awesome car there Pete! I hope it finds a good home. :fahne:

The drop from that height in the video was not the problem. The problem was dropping the hood from that height with the door open. Contact with door can be the result

I have to add a little excitement to the thread!
When I had my '85 I dropped the hood and the door was open and the paint chipped slightly.

True John, when the cars first came out, especially in California. But when I first read the thread title I took it for an advertised price. Now that you mention it, it did likely relate to Uncle Pete's original purchase. Still wonder why nephew wouldn't buy it or Pete wouldn't at least give him a good deal. --Bob

I am guessing it is out of his price range.
It certainly is out of mine.
Guessing his uncle Pete wants as much money for the car as possible.

I guess that's what the milk crates in the back were for. Great video,I never heard about dropping the hood with the door open. Don't know how many times I've done it.

By the time that car was sold, in 1994 (when I bought mine) I believe they were going for sticker price, or less.
I bought mine in Nov. 94' for about 1/2 the original sticker price with 3K miles on it, practically new.
The price slide had already begun, and they were still building new ones.
Only in 90' did I actually see them offered for $110,000 at the local dealer.
Good amateur video, but still lacking the visceral thrill of driving a ZR-1. You have to put a microphone, with a windscreen on it, at the rear to get that 4 cam scream at 7k :))
