Or its clone the Maximizer? For that matter has anyone done a before and after dyno with one of these. I'm considering their headers and catback.

I am running OBX headers and exhaust - no cats.
No drone. I don't know before HP/TQ but after OBX setup she turned 363 rwhp and 330 ft-lbs. And, no drone.

From what I have read and heard on YouTube videos it's a relatively quiet setup as well.

Same set up as Yun. I'll check my dyno sheets to see what I've got. -Steve

No complaints about drone. Even the wife has no complaints.

The more HP, the more she hates it.
Second gear on the highway on ramp, she looks at me and says "I'm not riding with you anymore".

I have the OBX headers, and Maximizer cat back. No drone, not super loud. Just beware they need some massaging to put in. I welded all the joints, the clamps suck.

Picked up a set of OBX headers and a Maximizer exhaust. Under $1000 for both, amazing.

Anybody know what this is for and what you do with it?

That the hook-up for EGR. I had Marc turn off EGR and the pipe on the header was sealed off.
Also, don't use band clamps that comes with OBX exhaust - junks! Go with Torca band clamps.

I see, no egr on my 90. I will have to seal that off.

Thanks for the tip...

I cut it off and welded it shut. Eliminated EGR and smog stuff.

Maybe Uz guys married the wrong wimin! :-D

I asked Ami over drinks one evening: "If there was one thing about me that made you decide to marry me, what would that be?" Without a moment of pause, she said: "THE VETTE!!"

She bought her own 69 vert. And, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, and she said; "Side pipes!" A little surprised at that - coming from a woman, afterall - I said. "OK. But, why side pipes?"
"They'll make it more RUMBLY!" she said!

While riding Mountain Run 2, she learned that Brett was selling his Turq Monster. (a cammed, ported, coil-overs, 5-point harnesses, 3" B&B exhaust w/ SW headers, turquoise, 91 ZR-1). Now she owns 2 Vettes - Both very "RUMBLY"!

(We met when I recruited her to represent IL on a competition rifle team....but that's another story! But, like I said, Maybe y'all married the wrong wimin!;))

Curious to hear more solutions on cutting and sealing this egr pipe...

Also wonder how far it sticks out into the runner.

So is this system quieter than the corsa system? Corsa is fine, but screams at WOT.

How does the maximizer system compare to it or are they pretty much the same?

If I could figure out how to post a video I have one on the dyno. It is much deeper sounding then the Corsa. I had a Corsa on the GS with the 396, longtubes and no cats. It was too loud and barely passed the noise limit at Englishtown,

Rich,

I could see the vid w the link u posted earlier. Noticed a puff of smoke when u backed off. Have u noticed any oil consumption on your part?

Dominic, I think this was one of the earlier runs before leaning it out a bit, But no I have no noticed any oil usage at this time.

Rich,

Can you hear differences in Drone level between the 2?

RichS

Jeff, I don't notice any drone. I was really surprised how quiet is is and that there is no drone. Maybe the fake cats that look like mini glasspacks on the headers quiet it down a little before it hits the mufflers? I'm sure it gives up a few HP compared to the Corsa or others, but for the price I'm fine with it. I paid under $900 for both (headers and catback)on sale last year on E-bay. The Power Effects that was on it when I bought it had terrible drone. That was with the stock manifolds and cats,

I now have the Magnaflow 3" system on the GS with longtubes and no cats. It has some drone and a mean growl to it, I have a 700R4 with 3.73 so the rpms are higher to keep it out of the annoying drone rpm most of the time.

I also have a magnaflow on the Lightning that sounds great with no drone. It has a very short exhaust with the side discharge out the passenger side just behind the door. Although my wife says its loud on her side when I'm driving. :):)

Rich,

Did u mention if u had an X pipe?

RichS

It has a "H" pipe right after the resonator. If you look it up on Ebay you can see it. It is all 2 1/2" pipe.

I just purchased an OBX exhaust. I knew from this and other forums that the clamps wouldn't be quality. The 2.5" clamps don't come close to properly securing due to the lap joints, nor was a clamp included for the passenger side pipe to header. What 3rd party clamps did everyone purchase? Did you stick with band clamps or use lap joint clamps ?

Thanks

Lap joint clamps work best.

Really the only way to keep them from twisting and loosening up.
Especially if you?re putting out significant power over stock.

I bought Dynomax lap joint clamps. Haven't had time to install yet.

I used these clamps. The problem is they stretch over time and tend to allow pipe to twist. Mine are spot welded.

Finely got the car out for a drive after installing the exhaust. It's been a little delay since I needed an alignment done (rear lowering bolts installed same time as exhaust). I'm very happy with the results!

As others mentioned, it took a little work to get the OBX to fit properly. The post resonator hangers needed a single washer on each side to give a tad more clearance. The drivers side muffler was a different story. The tips were almost touching the bumper while the passenger side had a 5/8" gap. I ending up using 1/2" poly bushing between the body of the car and the factory mount. New bolts were needed as the factory ones weren't long enough. Worked great in the end. The tips are centered, level, and equal height side-to-side. Unfortunately, I was only able to use 3 of the 7 lap joint clamps that I bought. There simply wasn't room to allow for lap joint clamps on either end of the resonator section.

I couldn't find any videos of ZR-1's with just the OBX/Maximizer exhaust (no headers) at high RPM or full throttle. So I wasn't sure what to expect. Would the OBX be loud like the Corsa systems over 40% throttle?....NO. The exhaust has a subdued baritone sound whether cruising around town or WOT near redline. I would rate the factory exhaust 1.5 out of 10 for volume. The OBX I would rate 4 out of 10. You know it's there, but you won't upset your neighbors or draw unwanted attention when driving spiritedly.

Pair the OBX exhaust to OBX headers and it becomes more like a 7 out if 10. Low rumble at idle, quiet enough at cruise to carry a conversation but still noticeable and loud/borderline obnoxious at full throttle. With the exception of the exhaust system to header/cat connections mine is completely welded up.
