Just wondering if this indicator is OEM equipment, or is aftermarket? It looks awefully suspicious.

Okay, thanks G8nightman. That's what I was thinking, but wanted some backup from those who know. Haven't had my ZR1 very long, have occasional no-start, so trying to get a good list of things to troubleshoot.

Old school "Car Alarm".
It will flash every 15-30 seconds or so, the idea is that any potential car thief will see it flash and figure it's protected and go on to the next car.

Doesn't crank. Instruments light up, everything appears normal, in neutral, clutch all the way in, no response from starter. Have had it happen with engine cold, and hot. First time was test drive before buying the car, so thought I just hadn't pushed in the clutch far enough. Tried again and it started. Most recent was after I'd driven to work, car had been sitting for about 6 hours. Doesn't seem to be much of a pattern (At least not yet ).

If you back off a hair on the clutch, you've been VAT'd! The only coincidence I've encountered is 1) you were in a hurry and 2) you are 3 inches from the Sun and it is boiling hot! Just joking.

Seen that many times before. That's a typical 1990's aftermarket alarm flashing LED. Remember back in the day these car were over 60K new in 1990 dollars. So a lot of folks opted for after market alarm protection. Pre Lowjack usually that's where the led ended up or by the dash IP or by the console

Agree with everybody here. 1990s aftermarket's alarm.

Our 90 was originally a California car and had the remants of 3 different theft protection systems in it. Marc had it in his shop and kindly removed it all while doing some other things.
