With the key in the On position the vacuum pump keeps running. Occasionally it stops for a second and then keeps running. Is it supposed to stop? Does this mean I have a leak?

Thanks,
Jim

Yes. You have a leak within secondary vacuum system most likely under the plenum.

Make sure you don't burn out the pump I would disconnect it till you fix the leak. I seen people asking as much as 400 for the pump

$400? Wow. I gave mine away after pulling the secondary SOB's; never looked back!

You should first try to disconnect the line going to the plenum from the pump, and hold your thumb over the pump side hose. Then you'll know if the pump/hose is good. Then you could try to disconnect the vac hose from the driver side of the plenum and plug the hose with your thumb. If the pump then stops, it's the check valve.

I had to replace a vacuum solenoid valve under the plenum. There is s thread for it. Original is discontinued But DELCO sell one one you just change the bracket. Just go bit by bit systematically.

The pump can be found new shipped to your door for less than $130,same pump used in a KODIAC KICK,direct bolt on for 91-95,plug is different for 1990. Anybody know the part number for the new solenoid valve?

Yes, Thanks, Dave.

I assume you meant "cheaper" than Jerry's part. Otherwise I don't know how ya can get cheaper than eliminating all the secondary port throttles entirely! (is what I meant). Parts that don't exist don't cost much, and the never fail!

Jerry sells a new OEM pump and is listed for ~ $176.00 The one on your link sells for $56.xx and says it is "remanufactured". Choices....

Your right Paul that one is. The one I ordered a while back was on ebay and was new and I think cheaper around $35ish after some searching. Basically if you search for a 2009/ 2008 Chevrolet C4500 Kodiak van or 06 07 Ford F350 6.0 L DieseL vacuum pump they are easy to find with a quick search.
