View Full Version : FYI Re: Cam Cover Emblems

Thought I had a short cut- backfired. Over the years I learned of a trick to
replace the hard to find/expensive cam cover emblems. The horn button emblem for early year C4's is the exact same design, much easier to find and not as expensive. You just have to chop off two posts on the back and trim them back a bit. They epoxied perfectly into the cam cover emblem recesses and looked great.
Then one day I look to find the checkered flag and chevy symbol is gone leaving just the metal emblem base glued to the cam cover. Check the other side and I see it is there, but warped.
Assessment: the emblem base is metal but the art center is plastic and MELTED and fell off!
So, probably have to spring for the real thing.

I thought that those emblems were NLA?? We can still buy them from the general?

Guess I'll look on my CD for the P/N & do a search at P & G.:icon_scra

Tom, they are NLA. I saw a set on ebay go a few weeks ago for around 100.00. At least they still show up once in a while.

Anybody know Dan Disch? 6 months or so ago I got an email from him stating that he could get the cam cover emblems. Like a fool I did not order them on the spot, now I can’t get a hold of him. Just had my stuff powder coated and now need emblems. :sleepy1:

Those look very smart - is that dark red metallic? Who did them for you out of interest?

Can't help with the emblems unfortunately.

Sounds good Tom. :handshak: Weather permitting, I think there will be a bunch of vettes at Sac Raceway Park Saturday. My family is plaining on being there as spectators, my car won't be ready  Just spoke to Jeff on the phone, He is going to refurbish my old emblems. I hope they turn out as good as the powder coating.

It's an SLP intake, I believe, that takes 3 air filters. Mid America carry them, possibly others.

Welcome to the forum Arctic. Jeff did a heck of a job on the powder coating job. The job should take about a month, but we ran into a couple of delays, like porting and polishing plus a day job. The P&P job just takes time, Jeff has solved the other problem by becoming his own boss and opening Vette shop! :handshak: :D
