I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I was curius as to why the PM message limit is so low? It's not a great issue, but lots of valuable info gets lost when the mailbox continuusly has to be emptied or exported.

Also, have you considered to invest in an integrated image server? There seems to be a continuus issue posting pics here, and I'm sure it would greatly benefit the forum as well as the registery if it was made more readily available.

Am I the only one having these thoughts?

Sent from my MIX using ZR-1 Net Registry mobile app (http://r.tapatalk.com/byo?rid=90383)

I believe I have increased the number of private messages you can have before you have to delete some. I don't think we would ever want the private message system to be like your email inbox. I've seen what some people's inbox looks like!

If you look down below you can use "manage attachments" to include up to 5 pictures per post. I will have to take a look at what I did as I thought I increased it to 10. JPG limit is 1.9MB so you might just have to resize your photos. No one really wants to open a thread on their phone with a 10mb picture in it.

Will the Registry ever provide a service like Photobucket or Flickr does? I doubt it as I'm sure we don't need to host or be responsible for your family or vacation photos.

These are my .02, others opinion may vary.

What does it matter to the administrators what the users inbox looks like?

Surely vBulletin has an add-on that allows easy uploads without having to log into third party uploading services? At least they used to.

I'm not talking about what is in the inbox, I'm talking about the quantity. There is an easy way to download your messages when you box gets full.

There is a way to upload your pictures right from you computer to your post using the attach files option when you are adding a post to a thread.

Just like this:

This forum has only 3000 members, where probably just 2-400 are currently active. If the system cannot handle an unlimited inbox for these members I'd say an update is way overdue. And downloading an archive of the messages is an easy way, it's an incredibly awkward one, and I'm quite sure not many people here have ever used it.

I know very well how to upload pictures, but surely you've also seen the many topics starting with "I've got pics, but can't post them" or similar, as well as the "I hate photoshack/Imagebucket .." topics. Photos is what makes a forum interesting, and making them more available to the users only has benefits.

That being said, any change or upgrade causing the layout to change, will wreak havoc. People don't handle changes very well.

Dennis is working on the Registry Album capabilities especially since many Photobucket photos are now disappearing. Photo Bucket wants $400 to now store 3rd Party Capable photos in their Plus 500 accounts.

The current Registry Album capacity is 400+ photos and each post can now contain 10 images

This is posted in the First Post of -Solutions_ as an Alert. The BIG Trick for Photo Album Use on the Registry is.....

After you have selected 800 or 400 or other pixels using Paint....and after you have uploaded to Registry Albums.

Once the photo is in an Registry Album (resized by PAINT) you just go to that Album and LEFT Click on the photo....It will then appear the size you PAINTED. You then RIGHT Click on that photo and Select Copy. Then use INSERT IMAGE and Paste into a post.
OR.....just place it between and in Post edit mode.

Thanks Dyno, i saw you mentioned the album in the other topic. Would i be possible to increase the maximum allowable size? Quite a lot of details get lost with just 800 pixels width, and on a 4k screen they do appear rather small.

You can choose whatever pixel width you like using Paint. Then just save it to your computer folder with the original title and an L for Large or LL for extra large. Then upload to your Registry Albums as I noted above post.

How do my 800 pixel wide photos appear on your 4K screen? What is a 4K screen? :handshak:

My apologies, I thought the album feature restricted image sizes to maximum 800 pixels.

4k screen is 4000 pixels wide, so an 800 pixel photo would one cover 1/5 of the total screen width. Close to the 720 square here:

Great Information on Screen Sizes.....I learn something every day

This photo is 1200 pixels wide

The trouble is.....when I am sitting here with a laptop with 15 inch screen (diagonal) this photo fills the screen and I have to scan left and right to see the whole photo.....and that applies to most of us I am thinking.

Most keep photos around 800 pixels wide.

That is why I like 800 pixel (Large) and 400 pixel (Medium) and 200 pixel (Small) photos and in those sizes because you can fit nicely the smaller photos under one large photo. But that might be just me :D

There are some guys/gals that do not size photos using pixels and just post up from Albums or other photo hosting and the photos are just too big for my screen which is a bummer.

I think Jim has used a bit more than 800 pixels wide and close to 600 pixels wide in his photos (see below) of his road trips for example.
Both sizes are great for my screen. I do use 400 pixel wide sometimes which allows more space to explain things

The ZR-1.net app automatically scales down oversized pictures, and make them clickable to view full resolution. There are image resize mods that can be added to vBulletin forums like this one. Such a mod would scale all oversized pictures down to a chosen size. Though I do not know what is available for this specific version of vBulletin (3.8.9).

Attached is a printscreen of your post on a QHD screen (2560x1440 pixels). I've reduced the size to 1024, but you can see how much of the screen is left blank, and it's a lot worse on a 4k screen.

The thing is that most of the stuff being made today (Phones/laptops etc) has high resolution screens, QHD or 4k, which is worth keeping in mind for the future of the forum.

Here's a printscreen of your post above, unedited. The 1200 pic fills the screen much better.

There is a lot to be said about your screen size and screen resolution when viewing photos in Forum Posts. How the Forum Post photos appear on other screens was a mystery to me until I visited Best Buy today (Aug 12, 2017). Also checked how the Forum Post photos appear on very large flat screen.

No longer a mystery how this 800 pixel wide photo appears on the latest and greatest laptop screens or a desktop Wide Flat Screen. Went to Best Buy and then loaded the ZR1- Net Registry Forum and this photo on five or six different NEW Laptops on Display.....

My Laptop screen Resolution is 1366x768.

ON ALL THOSE Laptops tested as well as the Desktop Wide Screen....this Photo appeared identical in terms of percentage of screen width (about 3/4 screen width) and PERFECT High Quality with the correct selection of Screen Resolution and Text/App Size which is Adjustable on the New Laptops and Desktops.

My Best Buy Experiment today leads me to believe 800 pixel wide photos is perfect for ALL Laptops and Desktops with Wider Flat Screens. :p

Anyone can repeat this experiment at Best Buy without logging on to ZR1 Registry Forum on many different Laptops. On any Laptop on Display, just go to where you place a web address on the screen and erase the current Microsoft link and type ZR1 Registry Forum and select the Forum and then go this thread and this post as you like. You can test as many Laptop, Ipads, Desk Tops as you like :p

You adjust the Display Resolution and Text/App size by going to Settings and then Display (Click on the Windows 10 symbol bottom left corner of screen).
