FYI...I know this has been a topic in the past. I found this on one of the FB Corvette pages. Don't know anything about this company, or if their even in existence anymore. According to their website, they are!!!
I would assume that this company bought the rights to this Air Induction System, it now shows the item in stock.....
FWIW.....

I would rather put my $$$ towards the Quickjacks, now that is something with a big benefit....:D

While I was looking for the Induction system, I saw this:
http://emracingcorp.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=101
They call it a High Output Ignition and say it is for the C4 ZR1.
It looks like there is an "Ignition Controller" in the picture. I wonder if it is really for the ZR-1? Anybody ever ordered one of these?
Inquiring minds want to know...

One of the previous owners of my 90 has both the forced air and the plenum spacers installed on my car.... I couldn't tell you if I'm getting any benefit from either but I like the way the forced air looks on my 90 and mine has a molded in zr1 logo that I think looks cool...IMHO

Looks like mine on the 91. The diffuser is the best part of the kit. Back in the day they came with the ZR-1 logo or the Forced air logo. And a insert that fit in the top center of the plenum. The plates are different from 84-90 MYs and the 90 ZR-1 plate is in that grouping,

They look great but actually hurt power compared to an open filter lid. Too much pressure drop thru the small opening and the hose between the bumper and air filter.

I agree only the tube that connects the lower part of the filter contacts the filter by 30%. It's a large choke point. The best part of the system is the front diffuser plate and its aggressive look. That's about it.

This has been proven many times over.

+1 from me too. Corey & I dyno tested my 415 at his shop & came to the same conclusion. Scratch the forced air system.
In addition, we found no verifiable difference between a paper filter & the filter being completely removed. So much for the K&N myth about added horsepower. K&N is not worth the cost & cleaning hassle for a filter that has no benefit save for being reusable.

I've seen tests where k&n type filters let through 18 times more dirt than a paper insert, as well as clogging 4 times faster. Not a good investment.

Ive used K&N but Marc H recommended use of paper element which I have now switched to.

I agree with you all and I wouldn't pull the trigger on one for a mod for horsepower one of the previous owners did on my car and I really do like the aggressive look that it gives the car. IMO... You really are making me wonder(and maybe the original poster) can you have the best of both worlds?? Can I leave the diffuser and do a open lid system? Just something to think about if you like the looks but want to get rid of the choke down point...

most of the fancy intake stuff is eye wash that doesn't do anything for power
I tested a clean paper element and a k&n back to back and there wasn't any difference.
Graham said the factory stuff was good up to over 750
I haven't ever tried running the car without the air filter (and probably won't) but I can't imagine that it's much of a restriction
I saw the fancy jeal stuff and loved it, but it's made out of unobtanium now and I don't know if it works better than stock
not much power left on the table with stock so if it ain't broke......

I've seen evidence of this on my MAF(Mass Air Flow) equipped vehicles. I always find a very fine gritty coating on those fine MAF wires. You know, the wires that are supposed to stay clean as the electrical resistance across them is measured as a function of airflow. Not impressed. K&N always used the selling point that their air cleaners were used on the turbine engines on the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank during the Desert Storm/1st Gulf War. Of course the turbine induction and out Chev engine air intake designs aren't comparable, but I do remember the old K&N ads.
These aftermarket air intakes may sound nice, but power claims are inflated on N/A engines. There are some nice powergains on OEM forced inducted engines, as superchargers are esp. sensitive to pre blower restrictions.
I did some at the track installations of some K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kits. Performance increases ended up being greater as the humidity/temp dropped as the night progressed, over any sort of power gain from the air intake/filter difference.

Ditto for my cars. K&N was a pain to clean and oil and added no benefit. Used the standard AC Delco filter and removed it when racing. -Bob
