Does anyone in Houston know of this car?

This is interesting although, listings on CL are always curious at best.

I don't know it, but its not far from where I am having an engine built, so I can check it out if anyone needs me to.

I'm not sure, but I asked for pictures of the engine. Why?

Reminds me when I flew into Tennessee to pick up my pops 96 CE. We wanted to stop for a comfort break in Memphis and was led off the freeway so far that we passed a hood where everybody was on the porch looking at the two white haired folks driving a corvette through their hood. We stopped at a gas/station liquor store while there were two "Gentlemen" having a argument in the doorway as we went into the store looking for the bathroom. It had no tank cover and half a toilet seat however it did the job lol

Well I guess Jerry would be able to answer your question if he knows the car?

It sounds like you found a better than normal restroom for the Memphis area.

Thanks! I may take you up on this and bribe you with some of Shiner, Texas best!

I spoke to the owner- seems like a straight up guy as he came clean on some stuff.

He says the car is in good shape, no lights on dash or DIC, runs well, headers but stock other wise. He has owned it for 18 months and has only put 500 miles on it. I got the feeling he is not much of a car guy.

He said he bought it from the second owner who owned it in Houston for 10ish years.

However...

It has a "Salvage" title as a result of being stolen and striped back in the day, but assured he that the reassemble was done correctly (?). Also, the car has been resprayed and will need tires soon.

I asked for more photos and the VIN. He said that he will send it this weekend.

Might be good to have him bring to my shop if possible and maybe Don (32valvesftw) offered to come look at it too. Two sets of eyes may be better. Give me a reason to pay him back for some help with some great Mexican food from that area.

Drop me a note, I give it a look.
BTW Bill did you sell a Blue C6 ZR-1 recently, I think the couple that bought it came by to look at my Motorcycle when it was for sale.

Many years ago, my dad ran a used car dealership. He occasionally encountered a Salvage title. I am unsure how things work in your state, but in Michigan, at that time, you could only get PL-PD insurance on a car with a salvage title. Insurance company said that a car was technically worthless after being "totaled" by any insurance company. And a car could only be "totaled" once.
It might be worth making a couple phone calls to insurance agents in your area to see if that is still the case. Maybe things have changed, that was 30 years ago.

I freely admit my wuss-itude, but the salvage title scared me off...

I wouldn't touch a car with a salvage title.
They are "salvage" for a reason.

That's why so many of em are parted out. Nobody wants a Salvaged title. It would have kept me away as well. GC
