A few months ago I was cleaning up my car and I see a smudge on one of the wheels so I try and wipe it off only to find it's the clear coat starting to peel off. I call HRE and they tell me the wheels are under warranty and they will take care of it. After I send the wheel back I get an email stating the chip was the result of an impact strike, something hit the wheel. I tell the guy that's odd it didn't leave a mark on the underlaying surface, the rim but the whatever just fix the wheel. So after paying $440 I get me wheel back all is good.........until I see another spot on one of the other wheels a few days ago. You would think that paying an outrageous price for a set of quality wheels this isn't expected. So another call to HRE I guess but I'm not paying a dime for anything this time. These wheels only have about 800 miles on the set. Next time it won't be HREs. Rant over.

My rectum would be in all kinds of trouble over that...I would expect nothing but the best from HRE.

You would think with all the competition from the other high end wheel companies out there they would bend over backwards to make it right but that's not the case. When I spoke to them about the chip I was told that once S clear coat is compromised that you can blow it off with an air hose. I'm going to ask that they reclear the remaining 3 wheels, not going to do me any good but will give it a shot.

Seems to be a pattern. Took me 16 months and 3 sets of Fikse's before I got a set that wasn't all jacked up:censored:

I requested a quote from Fikse 4 weeks ago. They haven't even bothered to reply.

Had a similar experience a while back with high end custom wheels which were clear coated by the manufacture. I also found out once the clear coat is compromised by the usual road debris encountered on roads these days it's a valley of tears experience from then on. That's why I specd my Fikse Profil 10s to be bright polished with no clear coat. I give them a good polish in the spring and they're good to go the rest of the year with normal maintenance. Anytime I find a rock strike I hit it with micro mesh abrasive pads and polish out with Mothers to just like new.

A few years ago I bent one of my Forgelines when I hit a crater in a concrete on ramp. Took the wheel with tire still mounted back to Forgeline (I lived close to the factory at the time), explained what happened. Left the wheel there. They removed the tire, disassembled the wheel (3 piece), straightened the rim back to original spec, put it back together, remounted and balanced the tire. No scratches or blemishes. Like new. It was no longer under warranty. Picked it up a few days later. Asked them what I owed expecting a big bill. They said "Nothing !!! Have a nice day!" There are a few good people and companies left in this world.
