I have been regularly checking the NCM site for the agenda for this year's May 18-20 gathering. Up until about mid March it said "Watch for Registration to open in late February 2017". Lately it has said, "Watch for Registration to open in late March 2017". It is now March 27 and no info. I am just trying to plan ahead. What's up? --Bob

Bob,

The Board will be voting on it tomorrow evening. Life has gotten in the way of things.

Very exciting! Like a "Disneyland for Corvettes" and their owners! Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

We might be driving Ami's Z - even if mine is out of the "shop" by then. (Kinda like to compare: the "Turq Monster" is set up for the track: coil-overs, roll cage, diffuser, 410 gears, cammed and ported, battery moved to the rear...)

But, its the PEOPLE that makes a club a club!

Nice schedule of events.. too bad this is posted one month prior to the actual event. If this was posted earlier it might help more people decide if they can/should go or not.

Some of us have to balance where we 'spend' our vacation days.. this year was a no for me anyway.. I will be going to the 'Disneyland' for Boy Scouts (National Jamboree) for 10 days..

Paul your car is in the shop?

Well, if the "shop" includes my garage (shop), then yes.:o

Bad slave cylinder (apparently)

Possible (probable?) head gasket issue?

Injured my lower back in a fall last year - kept me from working on it (besides being cold w/ no HEAT in the garage. Did I mention jack-stands only?:o

Bummer on the injured back.. I currently have an injured left foot (Heel Spur) which has been in a Cam walker for about 10 weeks so far, due to this I cannot currently drive my vette..

Is the Slave leaking? I would suggest a master and Slave from Jim Jandik

Putting together something as complicated as the GATHERING event is a lot like herding cats! Ted (primarily) and others have been diligently working on this year's program since before the holiday season last year, tho the theme - RACING- was announced months ago - AND in the HOTB (last edition).

The last piece (always) is chasing down commitments from others - the last minute details; like assembling an LT5 in the dark! just nailing down schedules that are out of his control is rife with last-minute changes (how many times do YOU cancel an FBI pizza nite to attend other priorities?).

So, aside from the particular event times/dates, etc., and the RACING theme, and knowing the Registry has some track "credits" too, about the only thing left was organizing those particulars into time slots; the AGENDA. AND...as a special surprise, there are a few special features in store too. (But, to see them, ya have to be there!) But, as always, Jeff, the best part of the Gathering (as Kevin says), "It's the people!":dancing Sorry you can't be there. We'll miss you!

Extraordinary job, Ted!

Jandik...is nowhere to be found, of late!? So, "that guy" from Addison recommended parts from Rock Auto - which I now have waiting.

Getting old SUCKS! But, it beats the alternative, I suppose! :-D

Yes, I agree, It's the people, but having an agenda helps too..

Anyway, As I mentioned some years ago, the Board should have one member as the PM ( Project Manager) and get other members to help with planning. I don't get why it has to be board members always doing all the work. but I don't want to stray off topic too much, so I will stop now ;)

I do event planning for the company I work for and I know what a pain it can be. Something with this many moving parts has to be almost impossible. Would it be nice to have this out a few months in advance, sure, but sometimes it's out of your hands. ****, I spent two hours hounding the guy who I hired to come sling coffee at my last event to even show up and he was still 3 hours late, stayed an hour and then bounced.

Things happen. Time lines get blown, it sucks. It's not fun for those planning anymore then it is for those wanting to attend. I for one love this agenda and I'm working on making my way down this year.

It looks like a great time and I'm eager for my 1st Gathering!! Finally put some names to faces, and inhale all things ZR-1 related..... As was mentioned, we all know life can get in the way of all things. So kudos to the board and all involved for making this happen. Can't wait....

Looks good, guys - thank you! GREAT USE OF MOTORSPORT PARK. Love the idea of the go-carts. As for the touring laps (in our own cars), - based on last year's experience, they are anything but "touring laps". It's great that one can run in his/her comfort zone and great also that if your comfort zone is "fast", you can find a group to do that with too.

Look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

I would love to go - if I do it would be for one or two days. I don't even know what days off I will have in May yet. About a 10% chance but I would love to... I probably won't know til day I decide to leave...:o

Another great job on the newest Heart of the Beast issue!! Just makes my itch for this years gathering itch more lol...... I can't wait to see those Beastly race cars. I had a question after looking over the schedule. What is the rollercoaster tour?? And does one have to sign up for it?

Story of my life here. Every time I sign in I have to sign in a second time when I get booted off during a response to a post. I am just a little surprised that one can't make a pdf directly accessible from a forum post, like a picture or with a direct link. --Bob

is there a group discount on a hotel?

Ted,

Will we need helmets for any of the events ie go-carts?
