A/C Refrigerant Leakage Issue

I've got a 95ZR-1. I have some A/C related issues. Noted below are the facts:

- In the spring, the A/C system is not holding any refrigerant.
- If I charge the system, the A/C system works fine and blows cold.
- A charged system will hold the charge through the summer
- Doing a pressure test (in the summer) yielded no leaks and no pressure loss

Why is my system leaking its refrigerant during the winter?
What should I do to eliminate this?
Should I replace all the seals? If so, is there a kit available? From whom?

I had a Ford that had the same problem. Seals dried out over winter. Refrigerant leaked out. Repaired under warranty. Dont have the car any more but i ran the AC every warmish day in the winter. I didnt have any issues after that.

Good thing you have R134.
Do a leak test and replace the "O" ring leaking. Should not have to replace dryer. Could be evaporator or condensor but likely "O" ring.

If you re-read my OP you will see that I did a leak test. There is no obvious leak. The pressure holds up well. The refrigerant only leaks in the winter - when the car is stored in a CarBag. So what O-ring should I change? How many in the entire system? Should I change them all? Where do I get the proper O-rings?

I am aware of your leak test but do leak test when it is leaking in winter ;)
You really have to find the leak one way or other......since summer is fine....
R134 is inexpensive.....just add a can.

Most people don't realize this but besides the obvious leaks such as condenser evap lines and o rings , most times what people over look is the seal on the compressor shaft this mechanical seal can wear out over time starting out as a minuscule leak before getting bigger.

Would a leak on the seal on the compressor shaft be due to time or wear. Obviously the car is 22 years old, but the mileage is very low (under 10K). So would it be wear driven? Or do these seals just deteriorate over time?

Dynomite - I got you on doing the leak test in winter. :) Problem there is that I have the car stored in a CarBag until spring - but that's my problem to figure out.:cheers:

Anyone have a list of all the o-rings within the system that could be changed?
