Hi, I have 2 X 1990 ZR-1 cars. They have been rarely driven last few years.
I want to sell them both.
But, the black car won't start.
We had it running 2 yrs ago, then while at idle it runs out of gas. Ended up putting in 2 new fuel pumps, fuel filter, new gas, and car refuses to start.
All cylinders have spark, but may be a weaker spark, can't tell for sure. Also put fuel pressure gauge on and it was I believe 50-55 lbs. starter cranks ok.
I am not sure if fuel getting into cylinders.
I had a local mechanic look at it, but he didn't seem too smart.
The red car will start with bypassing Or jumping a purple wire under the hood.
BUT, when I test drive, it has maybe 100 hp, runs smooth, but can barely get to speed limit going downhill.
Any ideas ? Where could I find a good ZR-1 mechanic in Alberta ?
Thanks,

Black car:
If you have fuel pressure of 50+, you should not be suspicious of no fuel in cylinders, unless you sucked up enough crud to clog everything after where you have pressure.
You need to see if any injector is spraying fuel.
My guess is they are not.
Pull a plug or two, and report back.
Red car:
You have a failed clutch switch or open in the circuit which you get around by jumping.
There are a number of fixes on here, just do a search.
As for the100 hp, sure sounds like your fuel pump problem from the other car has found its way to this one.
Make sure both are working by going through the troubleshooting section of the FSM.
Again, let us know what you find, if pumps are good you may need to check the injectors.

What does FSM stand for ? Where could I get a FSM ?
Thanks

Black 1990 zr1, no start, turns over freely, has spark but maybe not strong spark, 50 lbs fuel pressure at rails, fired once after sitting 6 months, doesn't seem like injectors spraying fuel. 2 new fuel pumps. Have tried Vats Interigator.
QUESTION: can I somehow jump wire from battery to injectors ?
Red Car: as above, but will not crank over unless using battery jump wire to the large purple wire above battery, will not fire.
Very frustrated.

My code reader only shows the flash code for 12, meaning the code reader is working.

I discovered in my red ZR the main fuel pump was failing. Installed new fuel pumps, and fuel pressure goes to 50 lbs , but using key in ON position I Hotwire from battery to that purple solenoid wire behind the ECM box.
After sitting, and with full battery, car cranks over and fires and tries to run, but won't start. Upon second try jumping to purple wire, turns over good But no fire.
Leave car set 10 min, then same thing....it fires and almost starts, then nothing on second attempt until it sits 5-10 min.
I have been using VATS INTERAGATOR, as well as bought one of those $30 vats bypass gadgets where you toggle switch the 1-15 bypass.
Where is the Throttle Position Sensor located?
Also, does the engine need vacuum pump working to start ?

Still trying to get corvettes.
Got steering column dropped, and checked ignition switch, it seems to be getting power to the large yellow wire when key in START position. But one of the other terminals has minor corrosion, so I will change switch anyways because it's pulled out.
Also will replace key cylinder, because I have column apart.
Next will bypass the clutch switch using a jumper cable from a yellow to the purple wire. And if I ever find the starter enable relay will change it as well.
After that part, I will be stumped and require help if I can get it.
Thanks

I think you have a good plan laid out there.

I have just been reading about doing a STARTER RELAY MODIFICATIONS, where you add in a relay that in effect makes a more direct 12v connection from positive battery to the purple wire leading to the starter.
I wonder if that Mod would do anything in regards to getting engine to fire ? It seems that mod is really no different than me using my jumper cable from battery to my purple wire bare spot where I touch my jumper cable into the purple wire about 1 foot before the starter. When I jump start that way, starter engages and cranks engine just fine, but won't fire , except for an occasional quick burp on first 3 seconds.
So I think I just put that mod on hold for the short term.
Is there a fuel enable relay somewhere ?

You are correct. The Starter Relay bypass that you mention will not help you with your current symptoms.
You need to locate the Start Enable Relay and determine if the ECM and CCM are sending the start enable signal.
From the pictures you posted, the relays in that area under the dash have all been disturbed so you may need to trace the wires by color to figure out which one is the Start Enable Relay.
