Is it just me, or do the side view mirrors offer no help when trying to park alongside a curb?
After spending nearly 6000 miles driving my ZR-1 I'm finally posting this very basic driving question. I really can't tell where my wheels are in relation to the curb when parking. Often it takes me several back and forth movements, and I'm still not sure where exactly I'm distanced. Pristine condition A-molds & Dymags, so I'll error on the side of caution...usually a foot away.
I've always set my mirrors outward, as I'm aware of the body of the car, and I'd rather have the extra wide angle view if something is closing in on my space... but there's just no adjustment that lets me see the rear wheels.

Coming from my Durango with multiple sq.ft side view mirrors, the golf club sized mirrors on the vette doesn't offer much help. I can't even see if the car will fit through the garage door when reversing in.
You could ofcourse try to hide a couple of these somewhere. :)

Agree that curb parking is a bugger so I prefer to find parking elsewhere when I can that will not include precision distance to the rims.
I know that won't always be possible ...
If anything tho you do not need blind spot systems or backup sensors with a C4 ZR-1 . Amazingly easy to back up or change lanes .
;) ;) :)

Yep, another good reason for carbon-fiber curb feelers!

For sure...either you're leaving the C4 nose exposed, which they won't see ...or the ZR-1 rear bumper cover which can be a tough find to replace.

If you guys don't know how big your cars are and, thus, are having trouble parallel parking with your mirrors, why not just use the sideview mirror adjuster to turn the right sideview mirrow all the way down. That way you may be able to see the curb while you are parking the car. Once you're parked, then, turn it back up to its normal adjustment.

I tried the mirrors the other day and they work fine to see the curb. I've never used them before. But I agree it's a poor idea since some people just have to bump your car it seems.
