Hey, guys. Been talking to a few folks about having a pre-BG event and MikeyD has been kind enough to volunteer to host at his place. He's just north of Houston so for those that want to just drive down and back it's doable but we will also post the available hotels in the area for your convenience.

We're looking at the weekend of March 24th - 25th. The plan is to meet at his place on Fri the 24th for drinks and dinner (Mike will supply the main course of whatever he can fit on his grill ie.. chicken, ribs, burgers) and we will bring whatever else we want plus your beverage of choice. Then on Saturday we will meet back at his place and we are working on a drive that will end up one of several eating establishments. We're still working on the details but I wanted to get it up on the boards so everyone knows it's coming up.

His address is:

10973 Lake Forest Dr.
Conroe, Tx 77384

Please RSVP so we will have an idea about how many animals to kill.

I look forward to seeing everyone again.

The Texas mile is the 23/24 of march/it has been moved to Victoria, which is not too far away/I had made plans to watch my neighbor race his camero/trying to break the camero record/he runs over 210 now//any thoughts that a group could run down to watch the race Sat/then maybe meet for dinner/just a thought David/

I think going to the Mile is a great idea.

The races run roughly from 8am to 7pm, so we have some time to get there. I am suggesting we do a scavenger hunt rally on the way there. If y'all think that will be fun ill pull the maps and stuff together.
Thoughts?

So whats the opinion of all who want to go, the Mile would be fun, we could take fixings for lunch or stop on the way.
I was actually thinking of a scvanger hunt on the way there. I'll pull that together if y'all think it would be fun.

We can still do the GTG on Friday night at Mike's and then plan the time to meet up Sat for the drive to Victoria. There may be some that will want to just drive straight to the event on Sat. Hopefully, that won't cannibalize the GTG Friday which will be a lot of fun just hangin', eatin' and meetin' new folks. There may be some that will only want to do Fri, also. We were going to do a drive anyway on Sat so, 32V, I think the scavenger hunt would be fun if you want to put that together. I've never done one. Stopping to eat would probably be easier than taking food. We could plan that stop along the way.

Sounds like there's def enough interest to hard code this on the calendar. Those that are def going on Fri please post up so we can arrange for food. Mike, you may want to start a list or we can start one here -

Joe, if it's still available my wife and I might like to stay Sat night instead of driving back.

I'll look into a place to eat and the scavenger hunt. It sounds like for Saturday we may be coming from different places. So we may want a meet up point for the Houston area guys. Ill get back to you guys shortly.

Well, it looks like we may need to change up the event some. A lot of people not able to make it. Since most of the interest was the drive to The Mile what do you guys think about just doing that on Sat?

I'm up for the drive to the mile or anywhere else for that matter. If we head down towards Victoria, Mikeskas BBQ in El Campo might be a good place to stop and eat lunch.

I agree with canceling the meet here at my place. So lets make it official. It's cancelled. I'm with Don on drive. Either way i'm good. Mikeska's is excellent. They catered our wedding some 22 yrs ago and are doing my daughters graduation party in May. 200 people headed to my house. God help me...! Y'all let me know what you want to do.

About timing, Its probably a couple hours to get there for some folks maybe more. Its about 45 mins to the Airport were they having the Texas Mile, so would 1100 - 1130 work for lunch or is that too early?

Ok. Pushed my Cali trip to next weekend so I'll be heading down Sat. I've got a 6 hour trip (going to pickup my brother first) so I may not make the 11:30ish BBQ but I'll bet I could get there by noon.

see you all at the mile/My wife and I are going down Friday am and spending the night there/driving back sat. evening/David if you and your wife decide to spend Sat. night on the road you can stay at my house/joe

Joe, I enjoyed talking to you. Thank you so much for the invite to stay. It will be much needed since I will be leaving Dallas around 5:30AM or so. Hopefully, we can meet up and you can join us for BBQ.

See you guys Sat.

There's a good chance I won't make lunch just because of how far I have to drive. I'll be meeting Joe on I-10 just east of 35. If I don't make it I'll see you guys at The Mile.
