Not as hot as 2007 though...

There were times in the 80's and 90's when it was so hot and the humidity was unbearable. We would get there by 8AM and leave before 11AM, it was that hot, you could stand still and still the sweat was pouring out of you. The only relief was sitting at the top of the old bleachers to catch a "hot" breeze...and we were younger back then.....that happen for a few different years, '16 wasn't too bad compared to some other years!!!
We could sure use one of those mist sprinklers...

Marty, just think of how much more room we'll have, we could set up a road course for the two of us.....
I am sure there will be others to register early, that $15 discount is a good incentive to do so!!!

Moving in the right direction!
We 3 will have a blast!!!

Now where are the other 97?

I know it's early, but Charley may need to start smoking and pulling pork in July if we hit 100!

I would love to see us hit it out of the park for best club participation, and to seriously see if we can get more space. We always have more cars than space. If we have 100 registered early, I would think Lance would go out of his way to accommodate such a group.

If there is such a car by then,
and if we had LOTS of pre-registered attendees,
one would think the manufacturer certainly would think that a fine place to put one.
Even more so if the C7 ZR1 was an official part of the ZR-1 Registry and a welcome invitation was extended for such.
Maybe members would even get hot laps!

Tripler and I both want to come to Carlisle in 2017. Robert DeMarco did a wonderful job getting a group rate at the Clarion (I believe it was) close to Carlisle. Unfortunately there were very few people who stayed there. Although as the "few" people were Charlie, Paul, Steve and Tom, plus others a good time was had by all. I understand that there is a hotel in Harrisburg where some ZR1'rs stay. It would be great to get as many of the gang as possible in the same place.

Me taking the pic from the Clarion with the group....
I enjoyed the stay there, clean, right off the exit @ #242, easy on and off, and only 18 miles to Carlisle exit #224.
Plus plenty of parking spaces.
I would stay there again.

correction just made on the exit and distance.....
Thanks Marty for clarifying...

After three years of not being able to make Carlisle due to conflicting overseas commitments, I am FINALLY able to commit to the event this year - one more for the Registry #s. I made hotel reservations some time ago, but I have yet to register for the event; I'll get on that this weekend. As for my ride, I may take the Z06, since I will be taking the ZR-1 to the Gathering in May; gotta try and equalize tire wear.

To my fellow Canucks, I am living in Michigan for the next four years at least, but I am maintaining my connection to home (Ontario), so count me in with the Canucks. It would be nice if we could caravan to Carlisle, but GTA folks are probably driving through Niagara-Buffalo or Prescott, right?

Dr.Jay, if I remember correctly, just sign up and pay for the "fun field", then look for the group. We are frequently the largest group and the last couple years, straight through the gate and we're at the bend in the road on the right.

Very important when you register for the fun field that you indicate the ZR-1 Net Registry. That gets you included in our count and it helps the event staff know how big of a space to allocate to us.

Many register for the fun field but forget to note us and we end up with too few spaces.

Dennis is right, no matter how many times we win largest club we never have enough room. If you register with another club, or no club at all, we can't count you toward the space we need. That's why we end up double parking cars down the center of the isle when no one else does.

OK guys, Robert had us set up at the Clarion last year. I just called them and they offered to keep the rate the same for this year at $89+tax for a single King or 2 Double beds. I also saw similar rates on Orbitz and other travel sites. We are listed under ZR1 Net Registry. Last year we had 9 of us at this hotel and I can tell you the food was just great. Give them a call and let's book!

The bar was great and they had two restaurants. The one in front had outstanding food far better than what you would expect at a hotel. At the second restaurant in the back they had a huge assortment of bottled beers in a cooler that was self serve plus draft beer. They served pub type food and pizza.

Remember.... When you register your Corvette for the Fun Field at Corvettes at Carlisle, specify that your Club Affiliation is ZR-1 Net Registry.

Each Corvette that lists the ZR-1 Net Registry counts toward the Highest Participation Club Award given by Corvettes at Carlisle. We have been the Number 1 Club recently and last year we missed by 2 cars.

So - remember to put down the ZR-1 Net Registry when you buy your Fun Field admission.

HEADS UP!!! 🔥
Better check your reservations!
Mine were screwed up...
1st clue: when making the reservation, they
didn't ask for a credit card #
Use the direct phone #717 774 2721
ask for Allen, (he's the head guy, and actually knew
what a ZR-1 is!)

That's what I got, and it wasn't what the reservation clerk at the inn told me...
And sure enough, checking the confirmation details with the inn, it was wrong!
They fixed it and the new confirmation is now correct.
Better to find out now than having to sleep in your car come August...

Sticker came today. I usually go with the GS and park with the GS registry, and the sticker listed that. (Although I've missed the last few years) This one just says "T" and my name. "T" is a row with only 11 spots. Is the registry in T and S?

Edit:
Found a pic of last years sticker with the GrandSport Registry and it only had the letter "J". I thought they used to put the club on it?

They only have the 2016 location map showing online, which shows our location last year in two half rows of M.

My sticker says T as well.
If we are in T we likely would not be in the running for best club as it is indeed only a few spaces.
Is it possible we had so few register?
If we are in T bring ear plugs.
We will be next to the exhaust install and demo area!

Perhaps we had very few pre-register this year, and if so, they may have re-allocated the space.
Maybe, maybe not.
Might not hurt for an official of the Registry to call Lance and see if we have been moved.
I would say all of the "t"'s seem to support that we are on aisle T, not on M as before all of these years, and T indeed consists of 11 spaces.
It does seem odd that being number 1 or 2 club for many of the recent years that they would make such a change without contacting us, but if they go strictly by paid registrations, maybe we had very few, if many were waiting to sign up due to work schedules or other reasons.

Or maybe T really stands for tent and they have a 100 car tent reserved for us............................................

Kevin,
You make 11!
Thank you for reaching out to Lance!!

Depending on future responses with row locations on the sticker, we should be able to know where we will be.
My sticker from last years(s) are still on my car.
I will check the older ones to confirm that that said one of the 2 "M" rows, but I do seem to recall that they did indeed.

Whatever, at least we will know where we are, but more importantly, know how much room will be available. If registrations did not include the ZR-1 Registry designation, folks may be registered for the show field, but space may not have been allocated in the rows reserved for the Registry.
As problematic as that may be, better to know and prepare for that beforehand, rather than dealing with it upon arrival.

With the new "reserved space" option being offered in the show field, that is noted as sold out, many of the usual spots may have been assigned to those paying up for reserved spots, leaving less for the clubs and others that normally occupied those areas.

Again, our group having been so strong in previous years, would lead me to believe that they allocated sufficient room for us. But if we had very few registrations, they may have re-allocated it out of necessity.
However, they might be able to accommodate us in a different spot.

To anyone who registered; please add your name to this thread so that we have some idea of how many are registered and will be looking for spaces.
Again, maybe Lance or his staff can find us enough room somewhere, or maybe T means something other than the row, although I doubt that.
Also again, perhaps one of our officers can reach out to Lance.

All,

I've coorded with Carlisle Productions for space, as we've done in past years. This year, we asked for additional tent space, and when I last spoke with them, we had a strong pre-registration.

I doubt "T" correlates to the 2016 map, and trust that the Carlisle Productions staff have taken good care of us. In order to explain the "T", I've sent them an email requesting the 2017 plan. I'll post here when I hear back.

That said, I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone and sharing ZR-1 stories, as well as wrenching on a few Zs!

I am really looking forward to Corvettes at Carlisle. It will be great to see everyone again and to meet a lot of folks new to the ZR-1 community.

Once again, this year at Carlisle the ZR-1 Net Registry will conduct some LT5 maintenance demonstrations. I am looking for a volunteer who wants to have their plenum pulled so that we can demonstrate the operation of the Secondaries. While we have access we will inspect the system for vacuum leaks and other problems. We can replace ignition coils or spark plug wires if you provide those parts. I will do the work and install new plenum gaskets and I guarantee that we will get it back together.

Contact me by PM or at jim@gizmosart.com if you are interested.

I have always dutifully entered the Fun-field through Gate 3 for many years.
Must we enter via Gate 3, or do you know if we can enter via Gate 5?
Three requires driving all the way into town, around and back up to 3.
Five looks like you turn right off of route 11 somewhere and head towards the gate.
Don't want to try it and get turned away, and have to double back.
Thanks for your thoughts / experience.

Traffic varies from year to year. I've hit some time where it's stop and go the entire way other times I've hit nothing the entire way off the turn pike to the field. While it's true there's a time where our parking becomes general parking but we're pretty good about keeping out the riff raff

You're a techy guy, have you figured out how to send SMELLS with your phone yet? Would LOVE to get a whiff of Charlie's pulled pork!

Say "Hi!" to everyone. Missing y'all.

Paul.

About 58 miles away. Had to stop to fuel myself up. I'm also realizing I need to have seats rebuilt

We are here at the fairgrounds in Carlisle! Just a heads up to all. The gates are open at 7 tomorrow. What they meant in the program is the "show" starts at 10.

Try to get there early as all our spots open up at 10 each day to the general public

Again...the gates are open early!

If I hadn't have had to turn around I'd have beat y'all

Change in time to meet at the West bound service plaza (307 mile marker) on the pike tomorrow morning. Marty and I will be meeting @7:30 AM instead of 8AM and will leave the plaza around 7:45 AM, so if anyone else is interested, we will see you there!!!
Safe travels.....:)

Guys. Plan to get here by 930 at the latest. We can not save spots later then that I found that out today when I got scolded for being mean to other motorists. Also account for traffic. Saturday is the biggest day
