Hey folks - My 1st ZR-1 is being shipped from VA, it's red/red(30k miles) with some suspension/brake upgrades(I don't even know all the details on them yet). I had it looked over by a local vette guy there (Tony at Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithershburg, MD), as he replaced all the injectors, wheel bearings, u-joints, plugs, coils and other work less than 1,000 miles ago. He said it was solid, gave it a thumbs up(with a laundry list of seemingly little things), a few of which I want to address right away like the driver door hinge & the struts for the rear hatch are bad and needs replacing and the bolts for the i-beam are loose are need re-torquing. There's a Vette shop not far from me, Corvette's Only that I was going to use but was curious if anyone in the forum has experience with these guys or has a recommendation in the Denver area?(i'll try to look around for the parts myself, unless someone can help out)

I used your site to help me have a clue what to look for in finding a good one and understand a little about the car, and it's pretty awesome how much knowledge, etc is here and hope to meet some of the local guys at some future shows etc.
thanks-Ken

like the driver door hinge What be wrong with door hindge?

the struts for the rear hatch are bad and needs replacing Prolly New Hood Strut also

and the bolts for the i-beam are loose are need re-torquing. If you are talking about the C4 Beam....Get C4 Beam Plates from ZFdoc
See C4 Beam Plates (http://www.zfdoc.com/c4beamplate.htm)
Make sure you use the C4 Beam Spacers provided with the C4 Beam Plates to get the rear of Transmission C4 Beam positioned correctly.

There's a Vette shop not far from me, Corvette's Only that I was going to use but was curious if anyone in the forum has experience with these guys or has a recommendation in the Denver area?(i'll try to look around for the parts myself, unless someone can help out) SEE Jerry's Gaskets has all the Nuts, Bolts, Gaskets you need (http://www.jerrysgaskets.com)

Thank you Steve, and I can't wait to take your solid advice Young1(it may be shipped as soon as tomorrow). Dynomite-awesome, thank you. I think the door hinge is bent. I know that the steering column was rebuilt and my guess is that they leaned on the steering wheel to get in, and them leaned on door to get out and damaged both.? I'll find out more definitively once I actually have the car. My understanding of the i-beam bolts, is that they are 3 inch bolts that just need to be tightened, but I suppose it is possible that they could be bent or damaged if they are more than a little loose.
Thanks so much. I actually looked over your "other stuff" while I was contemplating my purchase-great stuff, really helps.

Those 3 inch bolts are not C4 Beam then. The spacers I mentioned are actually gauges....not spacers. You use the gauges just to measure location of C4 Beam on Trans end.

The steering column won't bend from using it as leverage to get out of the car but it will wipe out the U joint coupling and maybe the bushings. From what I understand there is some plat in the column that is spring loaded meaning you can move the wheel in one direction but will spring back to center but I could be wrong.

I'll keep that in mind Dynomite-thanks.
Z51Jeff - I'm just guess from what's happened to another car of mine('70 squareback) which has alot of play(up & down) in steering column due to 45 yrs of use, but either way the issue was fixed on my vette, just not the door hinge issue. Did I mention I was excited to get it! :dancing
I'm hoping for Wednesday.
