Ok my red 90s emblems look a little tired. I ordered replacements but this 90 has the updated 91 body style. So do I use 90 emblems or 91-95 emblems OR these custom jobs? What are your thoughts folks? I have a front custom emblem as well but I need to go tomorrow to ACE to buy some right sized chase nuts.

Carter?
The plastic inserts come off easily with a little heat...
Get my drift?
Often wondered why something like that wasn't out there?

I'd go for the customs. But I wish the bowtie on the custom emblem was a twin to the one on the stock emblem. I think a classy custom emblem that can be mistaken for "stock" is very cool.
As a comparison, look at the emblems from the fifties, sixties and seventies. The "fuelie" emblems, the 427 "turbo jet" (1966), and the 454 hood emblems on the C3's. That's my benchmark. Classy, metal, almost like jewelry.
A major disappointment for me has always been the cheezy stock plastic emblems on our otherwise unique, legendary, iconic, car.
I'd like to see someone do replacement metal emblems for these, in either the original design, (without the sloppy rounded edges), or in a repro of the old "splash" design. Maybe just a hair larger than stock.
These emblems should have a much more "High End" character than the originals, but look like the Corvette designers should have done them in the first place.
JMHO.

This is how Callaway did it on Big John's 96 Collector
Edition Aerobody
Perhaps the "Splash" in one
side and the bow tie on the other?

I have already done this on A1990's Atomic Z. Both front and rear emblems. I'm working on a few new items but if enough interest is raised I can make other front and rear custom emblems.
Mystic ZR-1 I hear ya and if no interest we can work together to make you a set. I'll try to remember but bug me later to see when I'm ready.

Just replaced my front one this summer, I had no idea how heavy the original front emblem was....metal compared to the plastic used now. One question, where did you get that custom ZR-1 emblem??? I want, I need.......

Ten years ago on Ebay. I planned on putting them on a Callaway aero body kit at the time. All I remember was at the time it was sold it was offered as a (1 of). You are correct you need the older 84-90 metal emblems to make this work correctly. The newer plastic repros are basically junk plastic IMHO.
I'm sure Carter could take this on but at what price point I don't know. This set was expensive but I thought it was pretty slick at the time and I had not seen it before.

Personal preference I guess.. your emblem is cool, so it might 'fit' the car.. you know..
Kind of like the LT5 TB plate and LT5 CNC'ed coolant tubes, personal preference

I was lucky enough to have the previous owner who bought new ones, front and gas door. But he never put them on. I was surprised when I saw it just was an adhesive backed emblem, and flimsy plastic. Then went and priced them, just wow! Had no idea everyone wants about $80 for a plastic emblem. The original is a heavy piece of metal....... I just think yours is a nice little touch.
And TB LT5 plates, again I want, I need lol.....

Other than the emblem inserts, are emblems the same across all years?
Pretty sure hood and gas door are slightly different?

The hood and the gas door are different the hood has a sharper V but I am not sure when they went to plastic vs. medal. I think 84-90s are the same and 91 was the break point.

Contact A1990 and he can verify the quality and should have a pic or two. Do a search of this site and you should come up with a pic of his car, too.

I may be interested. My gas door emblem was apparently intended for the hood. It doesn't sit flat. Thanks. - Russ.
