lowered the asking price a bit...had a few $15-ish offers... The first person to actually test drive this is gonna really like it.

Got the car smogged and fixed a few annoyances. The car is ready to run. I would start driving it to work, but it doesn't deserve bumper to bumper traffic.

Hard to believe your car is not sold; what an awesome deal for someone. I would hope that you would change your mind, but do understand. Best wishes Mike!

I drove it today- it was fun. It may come down to dropping $2000 to do everything I want to do to it...then what? Throwing good money after bad or it will be too good to sell? I will probably throw on my stainless works mufflers with the vacuum flappers just to entertain myself. I would like to get a new windshield and some new Goodyears, but then I would have to keep it.

Drop the $2000 so you'll keep it. Hate to see you sell it and leave the family. What would you replace it with? As long as no regrets, it's all good. But that is one nice ride you have there.

Enjoy the car. That's why you bought it in the first place. You can't do better if you sell it, unless you want a So. Korean car in your garage to drive on weekends...

The catalyst to selling this car was when I had to take my headers off to pass the emissions testing here. So disappointed with the drop in power... although the lower noise level is a plus with the oem manifolds.
I'm kind of committed to staying in CA for a few more years so I'm leaning towards EV's. Already solared up my house and bought a Volt.

EV's don't provide the smell and sound of a fossil fueled LT5.
CA won't accept headers with CAT's attached?

I have been told that any long tube headers will not pass, and any setup that modifies the distance from the engine to the catalyst.

When you retire, move from that anti-RealCar state.

GLWS. I guess if I were still in CA my plan to get under the radar of smog Nazis would not have worked?

I had Marc modify short tubes with AIR and I also modified C6 Z06 cats to bolt on as you recommended. I'll install it here as soon as I have time.
Best wishes whichever way you go.

If I ever do a second LT5 car, I'd lean toward getting one that was pretty well fixed up. Not sure I have enough motivation to rebuild a steering column, replace the injectors, port the injector housings, C5 convert the brakes, redo a bunch of driveline stuff, rebuild the shocks, replace a bunch of standard service items, and chase down the oil leaks all over again.
On the other hand, if a worthy buyer comes with an agreeable offer, then I would pass it along.

ZRDon in Temecula had made that, but had to use the replacement LT1 catalyst that is listed on the certified replacement roster. In actual practice, that might have passed visual, but technically you are supposed to appeal to the referee to prove that the oem manifold is no longer available and that your homebuilt shorties are what you are going to run.

Thanks for the explanation and best wishes. Sorry to pollute your ad. We'll miss you if you sell, but surely understood.

Clean car and one I considered, but the timing isn't right. Have you considered putting this on Bring a Trailer? Should provide a much broader audience.

Since the car is now over 25 years old isn't smog testing out the window? In NY it's only a safety inspection.....No more smog testing.....All the performance cars I have owned in the past never passed inspection.....Allthough my mechanic always got me a sticker, no questions asked....

Ah! "Bring a Trailer" website!
I'm addicted to it!
It works! I've got a buddy who bought
a vintage race car there. Some pretty
"serious" stuff turns up there.

The cutoff year in CA is 1975. The idea was to have a rolling 30 year exemption, which would mean we would be up to 1987 this year---I would wait 4 more years staying in compliance if that was the case, but the law got changed two years after it took effect. As it is this state is kind of like Cuba, where everybody is keeping 40 year old cars on the road just as a big FU, no matter how unpopular they were back in the day.

I'll look into it. I may also wait until spring as I'm sure I will be able to generate a lot of contact. I should probably spend a little time to make a couple of videos.

Before you go with Bring a Trailer read the comments section for some of the listings. A friend recently listed a very nice but not perfect classic, with a reasonable reserve. The comments were harsh to say the least, and it costs $250.00 and they heavily edit your listing.
That said I love to look there too, they have some amazing stuff, so there is a high expectation on behalf of the buyers.

I saw that it was an auction site as I had no idea. I'm not trying to share the proceeds and also- if I don't sell it is that such a bad thing? I think I may buy a pair of 315's and raise the price. It wouldn't be right to send somebody off into the world with the dry tires on it..especially with no seat time in a C4.
My observation so far is that about half the interest in the car is people cross-shopping cool cars in its price range, not so much people looking for an LT5 car specifically. The other half are people that wanted a ZR-1 back in the day. I had contact with a dealer/car flipper too. Normally I would send a car off to any cash buyer, but it seems you should be worthy to get a ZR-1. They aren't air cooled Porsches, but I feel there is a minimum cover charge for this model.

Luckily I don't live in 'socal'. San Diego is not considered 'socal' because it needs its own designation to separate it from LA,OC,and the IE. The traffic is bad on the 5, but the rest of it is no where near LA traffic levels. It is trying to get there though. Maybe one day San Diego will be big enough to attract an NFL franchise:cry::-D

Not even close. The State keeps lowering the MAX STANDARDS. When I first got my car in 2007 the Max NOX level was 702,today it's 502.
