Friday aftenoon CANNOT get here quick enough. Following your guys's advice, I found a super '91 in the for sale section. I'm flying down to Florida to pick it up, and bring it back to the beach. I imagine a 900 mile shakedown cruise should be pretty entertaining.

Welcome to the madness! Enjoy the new toy & as our Pres says, " keep the rpms & the shinny side up!" At night in one of these cars I feel like I'm flying one of those SR-71's.....it's just too cool!

Have a safe & great trip! Oh yea you're gonna look like this after the trip:mrgreen:

Welcome Aboard!

Enjoy the shakedown cruize.
Be forewarned, these cars like to go fast.
They do it better than pretty much any other car.
You can break *EVERY* speed law in the country in first gear. There are 5 more gears to explore after that.

You will learn "PermaGrin".

My new favorite quote (thanks LocoBob)

"Driving a ZR1 in traffic is like being a Great White Shark in a Goldfish Bowl."

congrats, you will love your ride. I have 2 so there allways is 1 to drive. one thing buy yourself a extra serpintine belt and take a 1/2 in breaker bar , just in case it breaks .I allways keep one in each car .It is no reflection on the pior owner . these over time deteriorate. Just a good safety precaution.Jmho

I had driven cross country a couple of times before, but when I flew out to Ca to buy my ZR-1, it was the best long distance trip I had ever taken. There were many roads where you could stretch it's legs and I took good advantage. I was pulled over while still in Ca by a trooper and they had me by aerial surveillance with a helicopter hiding behind a large ridge. Fortunately he was  and let me go after I explained I had just bought it and was driving back to Florida. He basically said wait to you get out of my jurisdiction before getting on it again so I thanked him, shook his hand and was off. When I got to the open desolate desert roads I experienced what it could really do and am sure my face looked like this

I did have it inspected prior to flying out and gave it a good hour myself before heading off. So take the time needed to make sure it is ready for a long journey and get to know it a little before you go WOT. Drive safe and have a great drive home.
