Close to accurate -=JEFF=- but the truth is I bought enough parts to support two cars. My pop and I are making my third trip to pick up my next Z. Another great road trip

I am hoping to meet Tony D but he may be across the pond teaching flying skills
I am buying Schrade's Automatic Z Ted so the plan is one white one red one and a Blue ZR1 when I retire lol. This should be a Ted approved plan. No that's not a typo next ride will be a 09-11 ZR1. GC

GC- You mentioned that you're buying an automatic Z. Are you getting it for racing? Or just the street?
I always wondered what could be done with a, (more or less), automatic stock motor Z in the 1/4mi.

Street for now. Maybe twin driers and low compression build in the future. Time will tell. It's pretty low miles so not for a long while

I've been working with Chuck for months now sending him parts and fixing nit noid issues. The passenger seat motor has been replaced, the tab in the console. The gauges refreshed by Batee, Trading parts with -=JEFF=- and Cliff. This is a great community and my friends thought it was cool to buy another registry members car.
Already bought LED tailights, and a few odds an ends. Got a great deal on those from newegg of all places and about 60% less than I paid 8 years ago.

So the road trip started today at 210am with the arrival of Supershuttle at the house. We left for NC and arrived in Charlotte and awaited our flight to Fayetteville which was late over an hour as the nose wheel had to be replaced for safety issues. Chuck picked us up and drove us to Snow Hill NC about 1.5 hrs to look over the car. It was exactly as Chuck stated but it was getting late in the day so after a quick trip to the Court House after hours we were able to get the title signed and notorized and then on the way headed back home leaving about 730 pm. We stopped in South Carolina for the night. Here are a few quick photos as most of the day was spent on air and roadway travel just to get to the car.

Day 2 heading to Enterprise AL to see my son who is currently in Pilot training and due to graduate Soon. In Mongomery AL an hour away from Enterprise the Battery light came on so I pulled over to a gas station. The alternator was smoking hot and smoldering. I tried to start the car and no Bueno. So I walked to Pep Boys and then a GM dealership with pop just to see laughably if a alternator was available....again no surprise no Bueno. So we arranged for a rental as we await the replacement alternator from Jerry. So we left the car secured at the dealership and headed to take my son out to dinner. A lot of folks called and offered to help as well. So we took my son to the best steakhouse in Enterprise AL. Once again thanks for all the support.

Many thanks to Jerry for sending us the alternator and the offer of help from Ted and Steve to get us back on the road. We went another 250 miles and stopped in Jackson Mississippi for the night. Yep that was us we left at 645ish and stopped in Van Horn, Texas last night. I have received more attention in this car than the white car ever got. Thumbs up and nice car all the way home.

Home ! Was paced for 5 miles east of Jackson by the Highway Patrol. He was real tired of me obeying all the construction zones in that area and barreled around me doing 85. Made great time in Texas due to those 75 mph zones but Dad and I were beat so we stopped in VanHorn,Texas and blasted through El Paso (not really morning traffic) and Las Cruses NM. We had a few minor mishaps along the expected way as this is a 26 year old car. We lost the rear Corvette logo somewhere along the way and Chuck had one waiting for me that made it home before we did. Chuck is a stand up guy and it was a pleasure to meet him and shake hands on his car. GC

Nice, GS-D3s on both. Is that a Power Effects exhaust on the red one?
The white one needs a red stripe!

Thanks Tom. Yeah not much was said about the Aviation museum. I guess I'm too overly impressed however it was a nice free museum. Thanks as a former Artillery man I'm damn proud of him

I enjoyed those pics Daryll, it's kind of neat to see those flying machines up close. It gives you a sense of what it was really like to operate that type of machinery.
Would also like to thank you, and your son for your service. I'm sure everyone not only appreciates the two of you, but everyone in the Armed Services past and present for what you all have done.....
Also like the size of your garage, enough room to do whatever you have to do, for sure. And the Red Z looks right at home in its new parking spot....
Have fun , but I already know you will......:)

Thanks Tom I retired after 30 years and then became an Army civilian. My son is on his third year already. Time flies. Yeah plenty of room it's a six car garage my wife parks her baby SLK in the two car side and I get the rest of the 4 car tandam garage. That's a crew cab up front and a sink a toilet and a mini fridge is in there to boot. When I bought the house the previous owner asked me what I would change. I told him not a damn thing it's perfect. He had the biggest smile when I told him that. A lot of tire kickers wanted to convert it into a bed room. My wife said I think I found our house. Online no less. Yeah those aircrafts and helicopters are just awesome. I did not expect to see the Army Contract Wright brothers plane in there. Pretty neat 30HP!

I like pics like that also, you can just try to imagine that time zone in history and place yourself there, if only for a few seconds.....a whole different world back then!!!
Didn't realize your garage has that much space.....you sure did good with that buy.....I wouldn't change a thing either...you could camp out there if necessary, or have some very late nights getting that last item done....
I remember the early days where sometimes I be under the car til 3 or 4 in the AM and then have to get up @ 6AM and get ready for work. Only difference is I was out in the street in front of the house....lol
Those were the days.....:)

Nice story and glad you got home safely. I liked the pics of the museum as well - I love that kind of stuff. We went to the AF museum in Dayton a few years ago and spent most of a day - I could have spent 2 days in there but the wife would NOT have been happy with that..:o
From the looks of that pic - is the new toy running a little rich? (looks like it from black stuff above exhaust)
Nice garage too. I have a 3 car but need at least space for 6 lol. What I can't figure out is how 90% of garage pics I see the things are clean and organized. Mine looks like a disaster area even when it's clean. :o:cry:
