View Full Version : CARLISLE - AFTER ALL.....

Well,
4 days of 90 degree plus heat.

Rarely a cloud in the sky; A bad thing as the clouds provided some relief from the sun.

No rain, hurricanes, straight line winds, floods, tornadoes etc.

Thousands of Corvettes!

The endless engine revs after new exhausts installed at manufacturer's tents.

Sunburn!

Endless thirst!

Porto-pots seemingly at 120 degrees, but welcome anyway.

And simply the BEST OF TIMES!!!!!!!

It does not happen without the membership " showing up"

But, if they just showed up and milled about it would not be a success.

Upon arriving early Thursday morning and offering to help, all was already done!

While there were no meteorological winds there were in fact multiple whirlwinds throughout the event, with seemingly endless force.

The first; Mark, never stopped during the entire three days that I was there.

The second; equally as tenacious and non-stop was Dennis.

I became exhausted simply watching them dash from the tent to EVERY arriving member, not to direct traffic, but rather to welcome each warmly, offering any help needed. This went on for three days, and likely Sunday too!

It felt like I was a guest and they were the hosts, together with the rest of their team of hosts, doing all that they could to make us comfortable, thirst free, involved, entertained, informed, educated and having fun with all of the other guests.

While I can name many of the co-hosts and their contribution to the overall success, I will pause and hope that Mark or Dennis name them, lest I happen forget one.

I joined the original Registry in 1992.

I then eventually became a member of the ZR-1 Net Registry, when, I can't remember.

However, I can remember stopping by nearly every year to the Fun Field.
There have been many, many good years; a few not so good.

This year's event, at least in my assessment was one of, if not, the best!

Without the attendance of the members, it would almost be a failure, but without hard working enthused leadership it would surely be a failure.

Thank you to Mark, Dennis, and all of the others!

Everyone had a good and memorable time, and the group has once again, won the Best Club Participation Award.

Well done!

Count me in as the first member to sign up for next year.
Maybe if we get more, Lance will help with a bigger tent and more parking!!!

Let's have even more brothers and sisters there in 2017!

i had a great time and I thank the club for welcoming my guests who drove C7's into our space for parking. They truly were impressed with the brotherhood of the club and they loved the cars. They felt welcomed and loved the lunch.

Marty, It was a pleasure to meet and talk to you for the first time in person. Without a doubt it was one of the best Carlisle that I can remember.

Well it was until my car bit me.
