Thumbs up to Marc Haibeck for the great job just completed on my '93. Installed my custom cams, ported the heads and repainted the top end. Short block remains completely stock (350 CI). Already had siamesed plenum and IH' s, SW headers and exhaust. Stock flywheel and clutch.

Pulled 453 RWHP in 95 deg. humid air. Should be good for 465+ in good air and with a little more fine tuning. And the icing on the cake - 25.8 MPG on the return trip to PA (4.10 gears)! No loss of driveability except at dead idle in a traffic jam (has a great "choppy" idle in Marc's words) but very manageable.

The engine finish is flawless. And thanks to Carter Thompson and Jerry's for the bits of bling that help accent the metallic gray. Hopefully the attached photo comes thru to give you a better appreciation for the outcome.

Marc's attention to detail and quality of work are over the top! Not the quickest turnaround on the planet (four months) but absolutely worth the wait!

I assume you were all highway for the 25 MPG? Any cruise usage?

I don't get that now and I have headers and a tune.

Yes, those were all highway miles. Mostly on cruise control. But included rolling hills of PA.

Paul - thanks for the honorary membership! I feel like I've just been admitted to the Knights of the Roundtable!

Dom - attached are the last two dyno runs. As you can see, there's a significant issue going on in the mid-range. When I got the car home, I, of course, immediately downloaded the program (😉) 5466 and can see the problem. Should be an easy fix and will, hopefully, get it taken care of this weekend.

For those of you asking for a video, please be patient. Can't seem to be able to send it thru this mobile app, so have to wait until I get back in front of a computer.

If anyone has any secrets on hitting the lottery - pass em to me... I would love to take mine back to Marc and give him free reign to upgrade mine...LOL :p

So your RW torque is a little on the low side....looks like mine. I did not get mine tuned but got 441rwhp@7100 and 373ftlbs with siamesed runners. Would be interested in the result with 36mm ports

The mid-range torque dip appears to be a fueling issue. Marc tells me our secondary fuel pumps kick in around 4500 rpm which causes the AFR to go rich until the fuel pressure regulator catches up. Need to take some fuel out in the mid-range to compensate which should bring the torque numbers up.

Are the cam specs top secret...my intakes have a smaller primary 222 .415 236 .425 secondary

Dennis,

Can u display the AFR curve? Also that torque "dip" is not atypical. Appears that it's a characteristic of the LT-5. Maybe Graham could chime in

Cams are 238/.435 intake; 222/.432 exhaust.

Here's a link to a video as requested. Marc backing it out of his shop. It gets a bit louder, of course, at WOT. ;)

Sorry, Dom. Marc gave me the AFR data but not in a format I've been able to open. Will be glad to pass it on when I get it figured out.

Dennis,

If Mark gave you the recorded file, you should be able to display it using the
Winpep7 app. I know he uses his own wideband for consistency purposes.
Also, u don't know what cars and fuel have been tested w the sensor being used by the shop. But I think the input still goes through the dyno equipment.
Need to check me on that. I have a WBO2 installed in my header collector permanently so I log that during runs.

Congrats on getting your car from Marc, Dennis. I saw your car just before you picked it up when I was down there for one of my regular lunches with Marc. It looked great and I am sure it drove strong and well on your way home. Those dyno numbers are very strong for a 350 based engine. Your are right that it takes some time for Marc to work his magic, but I believe it is always worth it and I was certainly happy with his work on my '95. Enjoy it!
