A few weeks ago, I got orders for an overseas assignment and have been trying to coordinate that as well as cross off a number of items that were overdue and needed to be done before the move.
When it came to my white '91 ZR-1, there were a few things that I could not do myself but wanted done before the car went into storage. Since Dempsey (Oricale on the forum) recently opened a shop in northern VA, I took the car to him for the install of headers, exhaust, C Beam Plates, and to change the transmission fluid. The last item was the most troublesome because a seized fill plug that deformed and would not budge had prevented me from successfully changing the fluid myself.
I could not be happier with the work performed and with the attention to detail and care that they put into the car... no surprise if you know Dempsey. The shop looks awesome and is CLEAN, all the work was done correctly and on time, at a fair price, and as Dempsey showed me each of the details of what they did it was clear that the entire team at Evolution really takes pride in doing things right and with the same care that they would put into their own car. Not only did they install the new parts and solve the fill plug issue, they saw a few other simple issues and fixed them on the spot - just to make sure that things were as "right" as they could be before I left. I drove the car an hour and half to get back home and it has never driven, sounded, or looked so good... I'm already sad to think about not having the car with me in Europe.
So, If you're on the east coast and need a trusted source for maintenance or upgrades to your ZR-1 (or any car for that matter, since they don't just service ZR-1s), I highly recommend you consider Evolution Motorsport Engineering (http://www.evolution-motorsport.com/[/url] or "evolutionmotorsportengineering" on Facebook)

Good news Scott, how did they solve the fill plug issue on the trans?

Kevin - You won't be disappointed with anything that they do. They were perfectionists with my car, and that is exactly the kind person you want to come to when you need work done.
Tom - the plug needed to be drilled out and replaced... no way that was going to budge and heat did nothing to help it along! All good now... and thanks again for that spare plug!

Scott, no problem on the spare plug, glad it all worked out for you. From your post, sounds like you are totally satisfied with the performance of your Z, and that is a good feeling to have......

I have no doubts that they will do great work. My only hang up is how much I'll have to spend

They installed my headers and I was very happy with all their work. Now I understand as a bonus, Dempsey will drive to you with a covered trailer, pick up your car and bring it to the shop and then return it to you. Door to door service:cheers:
Scott, good luck in Italy, you will be missed.salute:

Dempsey, if things keep going well for Evolution Motorsports, will you open a branch office in Atlanta? :-)
Glad to hear the glowing references. Sounds like you're doing it right and people are appreciating your skills and efforts.

Needless to say, it was Dempsey who came to rescue and rebuilt my LT5 after the failed first attempt due to crankshaft oil galley plug popping out. Great job!!!
Now you've got to help me keep my Merc running too.

Bad experiences with this shop on both occasions I've used this shop. So, I'll be posting full details in a new topic soon.
No customer should ever be taken advantage of, and or treated like this. The first time I had kept it to myself, this time I'll offer the facts of my story ...you decide if it's the kind of shop you could ever trust with your Corvette.
I know some of you have your car there or planning on bringing it soon. You are welcome to contact me offline or via private message.

The only person that was attempted to be taken advantage of was this shop, and the bank you lied to and told them you weren't here. Every single person on this forum who knows me knows I care about their car and them as much as my own. I treated you and your car the same way and each time you had a non specific issue and even though some may have thought it was petty, BUT-- Your are a customer and I made it right. Simple truth is I went above and beyond with your car(as I do with every car) and you took advantage of the situation, shook my hand and drove off and then lied in order not to pay your debts. (As in: you pay with a credit card, first one declined, you called your bank, give us another card to try and it goes through. You say your happy, shake my hand then call the bank LATER and tell them you have NO idea who charged the amount in question and you WERE NOT AT Evolution[emoji33] )
Bottom line is the ONLY reason you are posting this is because I wouldn't tell an insurance company your car was totaled from the deer being hit, so you couldn't unload the car AND the bank denied your claim due to proof you were here.
I absolutely welcome the chance to have a conversation about how you feel you can take requested repairs and services, get free dyno runs, a discount, shake my hand at 12am and then call your bank and tell them you weren't here...
At the end of the day all you have is your honor and integrity.

I appreciate your response, and ask that you continue to take this journey with me as I will concisely and chronologically share my negative experiences at your shop. This will not be some knee-jerk reaction, as much realization has occured since the November 15th service date.
On June 14th service date, we had a stern conversation regarding transmission parts you scavenged from my car without my prior consent. I will inquirie about a 130 mile "test drive" you did not inform me about. All the while failing to discover critical parts that were disconnected and/or loose, which was the main reason for a return visit. My observations will be unbiased, factual, and ultimately demonstrate a pattern.
Can you confirm that I politely refused a joyride in another customer's car (Ruby red with 49st rockers), in favor of starting work of my car because I still had to drive to NY. Can you tell everyone that it's accepted practice for a customer to test drive a different customers car if he wants? (same car again)
Did anyone ever drive my car other than you?...just makes me wonder. Gross breach of trust there, but that's your business not mine.
In all my credit card carrying years, I have never had to dispute a transaction. My bank offered me two options. I chose the option that immediately locks the funds, as I live five states away. It's the "fraudulent terminology" that you choose to run wild with. That's fine, I guess this takes time to sort. I promise to give you MY money's worth here. A few ZR-1 owners are stunned you even charged me, or that I paid you any money ...after what I went through.
Yes...my ZR-1 hit a downed deer on the highway folks! ...at the posted speed limit. Car went fully airborne, we'll at least the suspension was fully relaxed....I sure wasn't. While the car is still very drivable, it sustained significant damage to the undercarriage...a 2nd reason for my visit was now to inspect any damage.
PLEASE PROVIDE any evidence you have of me, or the insurance company, requesting your cooperation with this accident.
You will have every opportunity to explain how a simple 2-3 hour service visit to re-torque C-beam plates & realign exhaust.... turned into 12 hours later and now we have to dyno my car.
The audacity, you text me that I am "clearly not within the standards of The ZR1 community"...who's standards...yours?

It is your right as a customer to be unhappy with service. It is not your right to take service, shake my hand and then try to get out of paying for service.
Again, everyone who knows me or has been at my shop knows that none of this makes sense(joy riding cars is NOT something we do here. Ops checking is, however right now I have close to a million dollars in cars here and we Only drive them when we are ops checking them). Right now, everyone is saying "ok so he's unhappy with service for whatever his reason is....but!..why did he go back a 2nd time?????....and why does he think it's alright to skip out on his bill.? (After he left, and then not saying a word to me till I had to call him??)
As much as I want to go back and forth on this(and I am chompin' at the bit!) It cheapens me, my shop and this community. As I tell everyone that comes in, I stand by everything I do. If your unhappy, I will make it right. If it's on me I take the responsibility and make it good.....however I will not be taken from and I will not be discredited.
Good luck George,

I've always paid my bill, in full, on time, with a gratuity....and in cash if requested. I know I am an excellent customer with regard to payment.
You know this about me, so do others in ZR-1 community. We spend money on our corvettes because we want to, we just want our money's worth. I am not alone here.
I'm returning to you shop a 2nd time to retorque plates that quickly loosened after your transmission replacement...among other missed fixes.
Please don't assume to tell people how they should interpret these postings. Guy's are a very intelligent group here... I'm the foolish one that doesn't even know when someone's trying to steal my custom tune, have no idea if I've been fixed correctly, and have to rely on other owners to look out for me because I'm still green. Dumb enough to pay for a blasting with no Vaseline, and miles away before it's explained how I got taken advantage of a 2nd time.
The question most often asked is... What was his laptop doing connected to your computer if you were there for C-beam plates? Why did you let him?
Do you really expect me to sit by while you go on saying that "I asked you to fix a Haibeck tune"... and you expect others to believe you'd just wanted to read the chip? YOU'VE TAKEN ADVANTAGE, MESSED UP, "SOMEONE" BAILED YOU OUT ...YOU CHARGE ME FOR SERVICE & INCONVENIENCE WHILE EXPERIMENTING WITH MY CAR, AND DENY IT...
Buckle up, it's my turn to drive...and we're not stopping, not even if a moose gets in the way!
Your conduct cheapens yourself and the reputation of your business...which baffles me that you take such liberties. I will make my experience available to the next guy considering where to bring his corvette for honest, qualified, competent, service.
Please don't shy away now... you came back at me so strongly earlier, and really we've only scratched the surface.
"At the end of the day all you have is your honor, integrity, some guy's $350, his custom tune, his tailstock, his VSS, his blue prom cover, etc."...putting words to the test.

I'm going to warn everyone to stay on topic and only post relevant facts as they relate to the transactions that took place. If this takes even one step toward personal attacks I will not hesitate to send that party on a long vacation. Member or not, friend or not, vendor or not. I simply don't care, violate the rules and pay the price.
Clearly we have an issue here that needs addressed. Not sure if public is the right place for this or not, but that's my personal opinion and not one of the mods or the admins in general. If this would be better served in private do so, if an impartial third party is needed pm me.

Respectfully accepted.
I will resume my story in a new thread later this week. I had indicated this intention earlier. Primarily, to make sure it would be allowed by forum rules....this one's been brewing for sometime now.

All, the stance of the Forum Moderators is to NOT let these types of Theads to get out of hand. As it stands now, we all know that there was a mid step over a transaction. With that said, I would recommend that if there are questions please contact the said parties involved. We don't need a new Thread with tit for tat on our Forum.

Tripler and I had nothing but an awesome experience with Evolution Motorsport and will continue, when asked, to say nothing but positive things.
Unfortunately in our "Instagram" world everyone feels that they can make public, items that they should deal with in private. I do not come to this forum to read mudslinging comments. I think we should all keep this in mind when posting anything, anywhere.
Decorum needs to make a come back. Let's start here.

I have read these posts and it sickens me that a person can make a character assassination of a forum member and still be able do deflect factual statements made by a forum member to the membership to advise them of wrong doing. I am not going to slander anybody by name I just want to clear up a possible misconception and to give you a little inside information to restore my friends character to our membership. I am referring to GeorgeMaz. I want you to know who he is before passing judgement on this man and the accusations that have been hurled his way.
Mr. Maz is a New York fire fighter. He is the guy who scales up the tall buildings to save peoples lives. I met George on this forum and we exchanged numbers and over time have had many long conversations about our beloved ZR-1's. I was able to steer him away from buying a very bad car and turned him on to a beautiful car that was advertised here on this forum. He got a steal of a deal since the owner of that car would not reduce the price for me but later did for George and he made the purchase. He has educated himself quite well on the ZR-1 and even bought a second car sold at a low price on this forum. Unfortuantely like most cars that are sold cheap, he paid double to have it properly repaired. He owns his own home and works very hard and occationally works two jobs so he can enjoy his car and boat hobbies. He is extremely generous with all who do business with him and always tips and most times regardless of service given to him. He has taken his car to South Georgia Corvette, Haibeck Automotive and the last shop he attended to take care of work not done correctly. He went on my urging since I thought the shop should have done it right the first time.
I met him for the first time early November in North Carolina. He drove his Red Zr-1 and on the way he did hit a deer in the road. I did see all the blood underneath the car and a what little damage I could see but regardless the car ran very, very strong. This car runs stronger than most cars on this forum I guarantee. This is a fully ported engine with modified cams and a Haibeck tune. I drove it myself and it pulls very hard. I could not drive it too aggressively since the c-beam plates loosened by an improper installation at a shop so the shifter would rise about 2 to 4 inches on acceleration so the whole drive train was unstable for spirited driving. His payment methods are mostly in cash and mostly prepaid with big tips. He tips alot better than me. I dont tip for crappy work. He is a hard working man who makes a nice living and enjoys his hobbies.
This is a very solid citizen and a compliment to our ZR-1 community. He has attended Carlisle this year and met up with lots of our famous members and also visited the WAZOO group and even treated them to pizza's for lunch. A testimate of his generosity. This is who GeorgeMaz is. This is a great forum and I took the time to write this so you can hear an unsolicited comment on our member George. He is a credit to our ZR-1 community and more than meets forum standards with flying colors.

I have read all the posts on this thread from beginning to end and this is what I take from it. There were several posts from various members complimenting Evolution on the work that has been done on their cars. Unsolicited posts. Mr. Maz decided to put his dissatisfaction out there in great detail. Mr. Anderson responded. Now we've got a "contest" going on from various members about who is the more "stand up guy". Could we just end this thing totally, please. I'm getting tired of getting notification "pings" about this.

Gentlemen, I appreciate the support given for both members in this discussion, as well as the supervision of the forum moderators.
Obviously I will never do business there again, and I hope I can be afforded the opportunity to discuss the facts and observations of my own experience here on our forum. It is of interest to the group where their cars can be properly serviced. As some of you had mentioned positive reviews that I had read about, and put faith into believing I'd share the same outcome...my outcome on both occasions was very disappointing. I'm not an unreasonable guy, and cooperated both times to smooth it over, as did he.
There comes a point where someone should be getting the job done right, and not just having to make it right later for one reason or another. Otherwise there may be a better place to consider.

This forum provides a place where we can share information good and bad. The information has been shared. Do with it as you wish. I do remember that before I took my car over to SGC, a conscientious member kindly sent me a PM to share some important information that I did not take heed too. All I am going to say, I wish I had. It is a free country so do as you like and I hope all your decisions are good ones.
