Out driving last night and I said to myself- man my eyesight is getting worse at night.....Until I pulled behind a vehicle at a red light...

I noticed my right headlight was out...When I got home I saw that it was lit but it was pointing straight down toward the pavement ....It wasnt flipping all the way to the front .....It was too dark and too late to take a look...Didn't even bother to open the hood...

Headlamp assembly seems to be not flipping up all the way so the light is not pointing straight...

Anybody ever have this?

Common problem with 21+yr old C4s. The bushings and/or the nylon gear teeth break off or wear out.

I've replaced the gears/bushings now on both our 90 and 91 ZR-1s. Easy fix with simple tools.

I got my kits from Mid America Motorworks (http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette/) for the 90, and for the 91 from Jerrys Gaskets (http://www.jerrysgaskets.com/)our ZR-1 supporter extraordinaire!

Redoing the headlight gears is fun job, my son and I did mine recently. Actually my son (17 yrs old) did the job I just pointed. There are some things you have to pay attention to but there are some good tutorials on Youtube.

One side is a lot more difficult than the other, don't remember which though.
I bought the little round bushings at the local Napa Auto Parts store, was shelf item only like $3.00.

Same thing happened to me.
The plastic plugs harden and then turn into powder.

The gears were fine though and didn't need to be changed.

Plenty of How-To videos on YouTube.

I used Dorman Part Number 74410. They are available at any Auto Parts store or search the web.

Buy two packs and do both headlights. It's just a matter of time before the other side fails.

A similar thing here.
I did one side.
Then my son did the other side.
Not that complicated and it gives you a sense of satisfaction when you're done.
