Is Black Dog Distillery related to Black Dog Speed Shop? And can a former ZR-1 owner (but still a ZR-1 supporter) attend? Sounds like fun.--Bob

You are more then welcome to attend! We are not affiliated with the Black Dog Speed Shop... We have lots of kindered spirits, Black Dog Grill, Black Dog Wood Working...

Then I will put it on my calendar and if the weather holds I'll be there. Maybe you should ask Tony Gaples to come--he is Black Dog Speed Shop/ Black Dog Racing up here in Lincolnshire IL. Still has one ZR-1 though I don't know it he drives it much anymore. --Bob

I took a drive over to meet Keith and took some pix of the layout and gathered some more details to share:
Keith's place is a tuck-away spot, located at -
10038 Clow Creed Rd
Plainfield, IL
It is in a little strip-mall; a GPS or Google Maps (app) is the easy way to navigate to it.
Keith said he will have the entire parking lot 'roped off' for our cars.
A FOOD vendor will be brought in to serve sandwiches, drinks, etc.
Those bringing a ZR-1 will receive (do I dare mention this) a free sampling of some of Black Dogs fine distilled spirits (incredibly, even dangerously smooth!!)
Just as an added attraction, Keith is going to try to arrange some live music entertainment too. So, bring a "bag chair" and your ZR-1 and get to meet and greet fellow ZR-1'ers as well as other Corvette enthusiasts. Yes, if you don't have a Z, you can bring whatever Corvette you have!
I'm always amazed at the array of talent our group has in our midst. (I'll bet WAZOO doesn't have their own distillery!! :dancing)
Some pix of Keith's fine establishment!

Looks like an excellent way to enjoy the Zs and learn some interesting things about distilleries, and enjoy some good fellowship with the gang!
June 18th...1 to 3 PM. It's on my calendar! BRING A BAG CHAIR!

I'll be there as long as there is no discrimination against Z06s and their owners when it comes time to sample the Black Bog products :) --Bob

As it happens, the first "Park n Brag" Morris Car show is later on the same day. This would be a chance to top off the gathering at Keith's event (ending at 3 PM or so)
It would be an easy drive over to Morris to take in one of the better shows in the area - the first of the season is always a big draw event. Just think: we can promote the ZR-1s, enjoy the company of other enthusiasts, and grab a bite to eat. Perfect end to a special day! What say you??
I may go for that Paul.

I second Bob's post. It was a good time and great to see some of the guys again. I hope Keith you decide to make this an annual if not a semi-annual event. Good music too. Making me look forward to Mark H's event later in September.

Bob said it well!
-=Jeff=-, there were 12 Corvettes in all; 3 C7s and the rest C4 ZR-1s.
There were some friends of Keith's there too, and he told me some of the Corvette clubs in the area picked up on the happening and broadcast the event as well.
Best part was getting to see so many of the ol FBI gang; some I hadn't seen since last fall at Marc's BBQ/party. The catered BBQ was nice, the music was also nice, and did I mention the tasting room? VERY nice! And, the parking lot was roped off just for the cars.
Lots of people looking at the cars; not all were Corvette owners. Lots of questions and some surprise to discover the ZR-1s and their history.
Thanks Keith! It was a very, very nice afternoon.

And... look what followed me home - one of Keith's Black Dogs! Well, after the tour and learning a bit about the distilling process...one HAS to take home a souvenir, right?
Actually, it is one of his special creations; a Lavender Vodka.
The shape of the bottle is like a flask instead of a (cylindrical) bottle. And, if I understood Keith correctly, he saw "Rooster Cogborn" (played by John Wayne in "True Grit") drinking from a flask-like bottle and went looking for one like it. He found one, made in Italy. And, as it happens, it was their bottle that was used in the movie! So, just a bit of trivia (did I get that right, Keith??)
Anyway... it was a really fun gathering of eagles!
