Up for sale is one of the cleanest and lowest mileage "King Of the Hill" ZR1 corvettes you will find!! It has been garaged since new and hasn't been driven hard, in the rain or any bad weather to speak of...If you are looking for an investment grade ZR1 or just one of the most reliable super cars ever, this is the car for you!
The condition of this specific ZR1 is excellent, I would rate it a 9/10. The paint shines brilliantly and the only imperfections are a very few pinhead paint chips on the exterior, a chipped piece of plastic trim around the drivers side electric seat switch molding (which I have the chipped piece) and the cup holder covers spring is missing and won't close completely (I'm currently attempting to source a replacement). The interior is in great shape with no cracking or tears in the leather, the dash is in perfect condition as are the door panels.
This specific ZR1 was ordered with both tops, the matching painted targa top and the glass top. I don't believe the glass top has ever been on the car and it still has the production tape on the back of top as seen in one of the pics. The Corvette socket wrench for removing the tops is included and is in the center console. EVERYTHING works as it should and there are no warning lights on, it doesn't smoke or drip any fluids..it simply performs and drives as you would expect a sub 19,000 mile car to!!
Included in the sale is the original "Pizza Box" which contains a hard bound owners pamphlet, a matching owners manual and a VHS tape. Also included is a leather bound ZR1 case with the original owners name and VIN engraved on a plaque. Inside is the original purchase contract from 12/16/89, the original window sticker, a copy of the original owners title, pre delivery inspection paperwork and a stack of miscellaneous items from over the years!
This ZR1 simply has fantastic documentation to go along with an absolutely fantastic running machine. I'm sure I am forgetting something and I could ramble on and on, if you have ANY questions feel free to email, text or call anytime at (602)697-6462.
I'm relying on the expertise of everyone here to tell me if I'm asking too much??

Are you sure you want honest feedback? Here's the thread on my car. I'm very close to you. My car was nearly perfect when I bought it and I went crazy on it. It was beyond amazing. Nobody cared about it, no inquiries whatsoever. Dumped it at Courtesy Chevrolet for $20K, traded on my '13 vert. At least I made good money my '13 when I sold it.
Not throwing stones, bro, just trying to give the honest feedback you're requesting. The market says your car is probably at 20K right now, at best, unfortunately. If anybody disagrees, then I challenge them to put their money where their mouth is. Talk, like the NADA guide, is cheap. At least yours is red, though...that's worth a lot. Mine was white and it was virtually invisible. I really hope you get what you're asking. Still love these cars. Good luck!

Thanks for the honesty Chris, I appreciate it! That's around some of the offers I've received locally which is a shame for these cars!!
Hopefully someone will appreciate it enough to bump it up a little, otherwise it will continue to look good in the garage!

Now isn't the time to sell one. I have a 20k mile 90 that has won class in several shows. And I'd be lucky to get $20k for it right now judging by what other stuff has sold for recently. Drive the crap out of it and enjoy!

Since I bought my 91 back in November of 14 I have been following sales trends for these cars....
I think we have to start looking at it this way -You really think the car is worth 60-65 thousand brand new? Let's be real.....
I think Chevrolet had a great marketing tool back then - - fastest production car in the world I believe was the phrase " life begins at 180"....
The Corvettes built today are faster.....Z06 if I'm not mistaken can do 206 MPH but does the marketing team stress that? No.......
So if our C4 ZR1s are going for 20-21k for a mint example than maybe that's all there worth, since in my opinion the original price for this car was through the roof.....There's an old saying, it's worth what someone will pay for it...Well, back in the early 90s I think Chevy capitalized on this with there marketing of the ZR1....
So with that said, drive the heck out of it and enjoy it...!!!

Ya know, 73vette, I just gotta say, comments like that tell me you really don't understand what these cars are about. Go back and read Heart of the Beast and you'll understand - the lt5 broke ground for GM, it restored credibility of the corvette, that had been lost at the end of the c3 run. It was the best engineering available from GM at that time. Time moves on, so does technology. Nobody buys a 70 hemi cuda today for what it'll do relative to the technology today. They buy it because they remember what it represented (and how bad they might've wanted one 45 years ago). Guys (like my nephew) would've killed for a zr1 back in the day, now he's having kids, can't think about one, even at current prices, he still wants one all the same.
They're aren't too many cars out there that look as good as a zr1 when the hood is open, even the new z06 with all its plastic.

I'm not trying to start a feud between everyone lol! I couldn't afford one back in the day and although I can afford a new stingray, it's just not the same! If I don't get somewhere close to where I'm asking, no big deal. I'll just put it away for a few years and drive it on the weekends!

I hope that you get closer to $25.7 than $20... it's worth every penny even if the market hasn't valued them appropriately yet. GLWS!

There are a good bang for the buck right now, especially with the mods you can do to the LT5....

I'm still trying to figure out who wants these cars at this moment in time. I believe it is the performance enthusiast who knows they aren't the fastest thing out there anymore, but fast enough and are looking for the sub $15k examples. Or people who want a car to drive a little bit.
I had an offer for $15k on my 91 (when it had 39k mi on it). I have really gone through it, but only a C4 owner would understand that the there's a difference from one car to the next even though they look comparable on Craigslist or from auction pricing history. I'm sure I could have got the $17k I was inclined to take and then maybe sell spares if I could have worked out the logistics with an east coast buyer, but CA is so hard on smog that there is some fear there- then there's the case that the cost of living is high here too so people generally finance cars so that favors newer vettes.
At the end of the day it is a used car so I got over the sell it urge and am pursuing different interests. It is worth more to me in my garage and for Saturday drives than $15k right now.

Well put.....At times I think of selling my 91 blk/blk 44,000 miles and she's practically showroom with nice mods for a C6 but I just know I'm not going to get any real good offers...
I don't know it's a tough market but if you sell a car to buy another the price you will pay on the second car will be below value also....I mean it should be....I have seen some really nice modded Z06s and there not bringing a lot of money either...

Interior is in excellent shape. The two biggest imperfections is the center shift console cup holder door is worn and the spring is off (which I have but haven't gotten around to fixing it), and the drivers side seat adjustment plastic trim piece on the side bolster has a chipped piece (which I still have the piece).
I will try and post more pics of the interior for you.

Looks like a beautiful '90, cp870.
Maybe list the things you've done to it mechanically… e.g., new injectors?
Otherwise, with low miles like that, be patient… if you do want to sell it for what it is really worth. These things are awesome cars - pure throw-you-back-sporting fun with all the appropriate LT5 V-8 sounds included.
Maybe take it to car shows, and/or cars and coffee, etc. There's something about simply walking up to one. Seeing the low aerodynamic profile. The rear end with the 305's. It's an adrenaline rush in presence alone.
Good luck with the sale. Otherwise, drive that beauty up to Sedona and have a blast.

No offense, but the car just is not worth that much money. I turned down an offer on a very nice black one recently with less miles and in near perfect shape. And that one was only $18,000. 1990 models will not bring more than $20,000 unless someone doesn't know what they're buying.

Sounds like you missed out on buying a nice car.
Sometimes that bargain ZR-1 isn't such a deal once you sink thousands to fix everything...you'll be wishing you spent proper on a well sorted car, but good luck with your buying goals whatever they are.

It was a great car, the prices are still trending downward unfortunately. If you compare prices on 96' LT4 convertibles versus 95' ZR-1s, in many instances they are the same or within 2k. That shouldn't happen. I'm wondering if its because of low demand for C4s, the ZR-1 windshield issues, parts availability, or that many sports cars are surpassing the hp ratings of C4s. Whatever the reason, it is troubling. Convertibles in general seem to be holding better than hard tops.

Exactly delusional sellers
One day they may be worth it perhaps not in my life
Theres just not enough people that know about these or lining up to buy em. Agree on a sorted through one with parts replaced that usually go bad youre ahead of the game. Who cares about 1-10k mi difference anyway condition is where its at
These require a commitment $ to own and keep up. Unless a buyer is Z crazy tey willl buy a reg vette in that price range happened to me.
Youll have to be patient seller, lots of toys out there on the cheap
20ish even a hair under really isnt bad considering.
Unless youre stuck for cash drive it. One day all that will matter is owning one period unless its smashed to death it will be in demand somewhere by someone.

I totally agree with Gen2rt. I say enjoy driving it, owning it, showing it and in time prices will go up. I bought mine several years ago because of its history and fun to drive, not to make money. If u want to make money, buy stock. Lol

I wish people would stop trashing the 1990 zr1. They are not a dime a dozen as most want you to believe. It is the record setting model year car. It is the only different car compared to the rest of the zr1 made. They feel a bit less refined and more like a track car compared to the later year wide seat and heavier cars. It is the best deal and you should not care so much about resale because they are all selling low right now.
back in the day it was a 60k car. It is not as fast as the brand new z06 but neither is the 200k porsche 911 karmen ghia. why is that pile 200k??? because some people just pay it regardless if its worth it or not. those people are not concerned if they perform horribly against current cars, they just want to drive a porsche!!! why is a 1990 lamborghini countach 1 million?? top speed 180, 190... crappy durability and impossible to fix for under a million... sells all day long at auctions... is this car any better?? no.. The classic car buyer has been brainwashed to think cars from the black forest or red italian cars are better period. they all drank the koolaid. enjoy the fact that your 1990-95 zr1 can beat the hell out of similar year supercars for less than the tax they paid for there overpriced junkers. I am biased when comparing our cars with there cars. I am as biased as they are with there cars. No other production car, has ever broken the 24 hour top speed record... no italian cars, german cars, swedish cars, race cars.... only a purpose built vw got it done...purpose built, non production car. Feel proud that for a few shackles you drive the legend.

I agree....18,000 for a near perfect 90 ZR-1? Black no less? That to me is a good deal..I'm biased, I think black is one of the top two or three colors personally.....(Not many to choose from but mean as hell when it's waxed to the max.....
As far as getting parts Jerrys gaskets has everything......I knew very little about the LT-5 when I bought it but with a little research I was able to remove my plenum inj housings for porting and put back together.....Also changed a starter, coils, wires and plugs..
If you take your time and have decent tools the LT5 is really not that difficult to work on........The ZR1 registry is an awesome forum to get advice....

shame for such a low mileage car but i think 20 is the going price, if were a 93-95 with a rarer color that would add value like admiral blue it ridiculous how much they sell for. I may know someone interested who wants a red 90 or a white/red 90. im sending him the link

I am in your camp Ed. I have dreamed of the day when a 90 to 95 ZR-1 is modified to reset the records and calls out the supercar pretenders at the same time.
