View Full Version : V Bands for the exhaust

As I start my exhaust project I thought about using VBands to keep it altogether. This would allow for easy disassembly and removal. Also would the VBands need to be welded on before the headers are on the engine? I am still unsure what exhaust I am going with.

How many couplings?

I'd think it could get aggravating easily and I can't imagine removal as frequently as maybe the cost to accomplish to justify the expense. Much might depend on "talent" - I know some "talented souls" but still not for me.

If you are using bullet cats you can slip-joint the cats to the headers and then put v-clamps on the other end of the cats. This is a good solution but not the least expensive.

The v-clamps should be welded and I'm not sure if I would put them directly on the headers.

Another solution is to use the ball flange adapter (SW provides one with their headers) on both sides. The ball flange adapter slips onto the headers and connects directly to the flange. This works well & might be less expensive. Depending on fitment and if you're lucky the left side of a stock exhaust (94-96) may fit w/out issues and the only thing you have to add is the right side pipe with flange.

I went with what Gunny said although I can get rid of the cats now as in GA 25 years old is the emissions limit.

My issue is my SW headers have been modified, and no longer have stock connections. I was looking for an easier way to drop the exhaust when maintenance was needed.
