Where you guys store your tops?

Hi,

My '91 ZR-1 has 3 different tops (1 white, 1 smoked, 1 copper). They are all in good shape, how do you guys store them?

I bought a storage bag for my second top from one of the Corvette vendors (Corvette Central or Eckler's). It stays in the basement.

Mine is sitting on a shelf in the basement. Not ideal. I started a thread on this a while back. I don't think we ever came up with any great plans.

Glass top still with manufacturer stickers is wrapped up and stuffed under the stairs.

It removes hatch space, and my speakers sound really different when there's a hatch in there.

Plus, if you're cruising and you want to remove your top, you got to go home to remove it.

The glass top is in 2 top bags stashed in the closet. Still had the factory sticker on it when I got the car. Removed the sticker and got it stashed.

Normally the top that is not in use gets wrapped in a blanket and stored under the bed in a spare bedroom.

I have 3. Carbon fiber top is on the car, Blue tinted top is on a shelf in the garage along with the painted top. Those tops are in the leather like padded targa top bags that most aftermarket folks sell. I prefer a shelf as the walls are needed for all the ZR-1 posters in my garage lol

I just remembered I have an extra targa storage bag. So I put it for sale in the FS section. GC

When I bought the car, I paid $500 less and told him to keep the extra top.

Two reasons:

1. We were driving it home (3K mi.), and didn't have room for it.

2. Clear top in Florida? No way, my brains are already fried from the inside :p


I'm a hard core coupe guy, and hate the dreaded "cowl shake". In 22 years I've never had the original one off. Just tighten those screws once in a while.

Clear top is in my basement. It will not fit under the hatch. The Roll Bar is in the way!
