To all enthusiasts:

Listed below is a PRELIMINARY agenda for The Gathering in Bowling Green, KY on May 12 - 14, 2016.
In general, the focus of this year's Gathering is a day of driving at the NCM MotorSports Track on Friday, May 13, 2016.
The day before (Thursday) will be classroom-type instruction.
Taking into account past comments and criticisms, your Board of Directors has worked hard to offer a GREAT time for all.
Your signing up not only helps us to better plan and prepare our event, but also helps to support our event.

*Highly recommended pre-Gathering is Mountain Run 4*
"MR4 will begin on Sunday evening, May 8 and end on Wed, May 11 in BG, just in time for pizza at the U-Plaza."

The Track X program is a new driving event at the NCM MSP. This activity takes place in an autocross-type environment,
with coned gates and dedicated start and finish lines, but on the racetrack. It will be an open event, with no class structure
–Runs will not be timed. Participants can expect between 2-3 runs, with an average lap taking about 1:40+ seconds,
and most cars reaching speeds in excess of 90 mph!
We utilize 1.7 miles of our 2 mile West Track to make a fast but technical course to either hone your driving prowess,
or to give you the chance to try out the whole track thing. We encourage a social atmosphere of non-competitive learning
for any and all to come out and experience this awesome facility.
Rules: All participants must be in a track appropriate vehicle, and have a valid drivers’ license. Drivers under the age of 18
must have a guardian present to sign minor waiver. Convertibles are welcome! A helmet, closed toed shoes, and long pants are required.
We do have a very limited amount of rental helmets that will be available for $25 per day, but we encourage all participants to bring their own
(the Corvette Museum Store has HJC helmets very competitively priced).
Please be sure that your vehicle is safe for track use, no loose items, battery and wheels all tight and secured, and no leaks of any kind.
Unfortunately passengers will not be allowed for speed runs.

Shotgun Concessions on site for your hunger needs

5:00pm NCM Closes

Note: We realize that although the MotorSports Track is our emphasis, not everyone will want to spend the day at the track.
As well as exploring the NCM, Corvette Plant tours are available. There is local shopping and sight-seeing, and NCM sponsored group drives can be arranged.

Fingers crossed, I will attend my First Gathering this May. Can a person just show up on Friday and register? Or is this something that needs to be done ahead of time?

.... We are listed as ZR2 ....

Does this mean I have to drive my lifted 4-wheel drive Chevy S-10 with the ZR-2 decals on the fenders?

Seriously, thanks for the MR4 plug. It's looking better & better as we get closer to May.

Once again I won't be able to make it. I have a prior commitment on Saturday, and work the rest of that week...:( One of these years hopefully the stars will align....

Ted,

The rate being quoted by the hotel website is 134 not 119. Were the taxes not part of the $119 rate quoted you?

IIRC, it is a little cheaper to preregister, far as the NCM and events go. The hotel, on the other hand, one shouldn't wait too long or the block of reserved rooms my be all taken, leaving you to go it alone, IF you can even get a room.

Also, you might raise your hand and see if anyone would care to split a room to save some money. Just a thought!

Hi: Don't go by the Hotel website. Call reservations directly and quote ZR2 and that we have a group rate of $119. When they send your e-mail confirmation check the rate that it covers from the Wednesday night to and including the Saturday night. Mine didn't but they quickly corrected it and sent me a revised confirmation.

Just booked my room. I called, the only night the 119 worked for was the 11th. The other nights were 134.

That don't seem right.... In previous years it was a set price for the entire gathering stay, IIRC. Ted!? U see this??

I "attempted" to book my room yesterday and was on the phone well over an hour, mostly on hold only to find that reservations couldn't find any discounts associated with ZR2 group. I emailed Ted & got a response last night that he would be contacting the hotel events coordinator to get it straightened out.

I think the hotel needs to watch Cool Hand Luke a few more times so they understand the meaning of "what we're dealing with here is a failure to communicate".

Will try again today ... hopefully they will get it straightened out; otherwise, I'll either book with senior citizens discount (which is less than the $134) or find another property that's less expensive. Don't understand why it has to be so difficult ... and I'm saying that because I've had this same issue several times in the past. Just sayin'

Not sure if I qualify for the citizens discount but I definitely quality for the senior discount
Interpret that however you wish but try not to read too much into anything I say

I got this also, then called the front desk directly. I'm supposed to get a new confirmation w the cost being reflected as $119 for each day. So they are aware of this.

I just called the front desk and got a room under ZR2 with no problem. Must be working now. Last year was messed up for me (price) but they fixed it for me when I checked in.

Good news

called the front desk and asked to NOT be transferred to the call center; that I needed to book locally. Was put on hold for 15 sec MAX, then they took all the info, quoted the correct price, etc. etc. Whole process was quick & easy. Still not sure why the earlier snafu or why I kept being transferred to the national call center.

those of you who have reservations but suspect that the price is not right might want to call back, give your confirmation #, and make sure everything is OK. I think the folks at UPlaza know what they're doing.

FWIW, I'm booked from Wed until Sat AM - have to leave early afternoon on Sat because of a playing gig the next day. Anyone else leaving on Sat and needing a room, send me a PM.
