Hello,
In the process of installing exhaust manifold gasket purchased from Jerry's Gasket. The gasket has a metal layer covered by a paper backing on both sides. One side of the gasket is textured and has more paper element covering the metal. The other side is more smooth however, the paper element covering the metal is not as thick.

Question: Which side faces exhaust manifold?
The thicker textured side or thin smooth?

Thank you in advance

I will take a guess........It is most likely that the Exhaust Manifold/Headers are not as perfect a surface as the Heads Exhaust Ports. I doubt there is any difference in the effect either way you install the gasket. If there is a difference I would guess that the thicker paper element covering be placed outward against the Exhaust Manifold/Headers :p

If I am wrong.....I shall delete this post :D

Jerry's Gaskets are the best, His packaging is super, Prices are fair, Instructions (when required) are clear, and lastly, his Delivery is very very fast

Thank you for the replies. I agree with the logic of placing the textured side against the exhaust manifold. Really want to get this job done today.
