Picked up an LT-5 with extras,on the cheap. This was supposedly an 18K mile car. Plan was to sell every piece of it....then I opened up the bottom end and saw this

Part it all out or build a long block with big cams and sell it?

Downside is the at some point they cut the girdle, but not on part of the structure...engine was to go in a restomod...about 18 years ago

Lee:
I really hate to sound stupid, but what am I looking for?
This has bothered me since you first posted the pics days ago.
The underbelly looks clean and almost new.
No bent rods, no cracked pistons, no blue overheated bearing caps, no nuttin'.
So, what is it?
What's with the cut you show us in the last pic?
Why would they slice it like that and then leave it?

My point is that I kinda of feel bad parting out an engine in such good shape.....might end up building a 350 with reprofiled cams and ported heads; then sell it.
As to the cut, no idea why they did it, its a project someone gave up on 18 years ago...so who knows.

Looks to me like the bottom end has signs of coolant mixing w oil.
