I posted a thread not to long ago about DAG on the throttle body.....

When I was putting my IHs and plenum back after the porting I cleaned the throttle body thinking it was dirt.....

However one of the members suggested I use Blaster graphite dry lube around
The throttle body blades, basically mimicking what was there before I mistakingly removed......

When my car is warm I'm idling between 800-850.....I heard the idle when car is hot is 650?

Car has headers, full exhaust, ported plenum and IHs , so it's not stock anymore..

I'm guessing 800-850 is pretty normal ?

GM tachometer is not the most accurate device, especially after 20 plus years. Only way to accurately measure RPM is with Tech 1 or similar equipment. Having said this, 800-850 reading seems fine to me.

Yes thanks....
I used Marc's way of measuring the idle with the fan controls on
Dash......That's how I got my figures...

If so, your idle maybe a tad high due to some vacuum leak through the throttle blade or along the vacuum line. Nonetheless, 800 to 850, in my opinion, is of no concern. After having my LT5 rebuilt with 4" liner/pistons, lightly stroked crank, head porting and re-ground camshaft, intentionally asked Marc to set my idle at 850 to maintain smooth idle. Come to think of it, before the rebuild even when the car was dialed in just right, my idle speed would vary between 650 to 800 depending on her mood...

Yes Marc emailed me saying the normal idle speed for a ''HOT'' engine is 650..
Cant really remember my Z really idling that low....

800-850 is fine with me as well.....Like i said I used that dry graphite lube around the throttle blades....Stuff is messy though but it seems to hang on to the location where the DAG was originally...

Sounds like you have one powerful Z there....
