In the past 2-3 years I've gone to several open track days hosted by the Jzilla Trackdays (http://www.jzillatrackdays.com/) club. They run very laid back, safe & fun events at reasonable costs, at some very fun tracks. They usually run four groups, ranging from first-time novices to experienced racers. We always get plenty of track time and leave with big smiles (and even more respect for our stout cars).

Here are some posts from when 8cam and I went to Road Atlanta in 2015 (http://zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25722).

Some ZR-1 guys have expressed interest in getting a small group of us together at one of these events. Below is a list of their 2016 events. Please post here if you're interested in going, and which event/track would be best for you.

I have signed up for the March event, and will probably do another or two. I think it would be a blast to have a small group of us at an event, and I'm sure they'd enjoy having us.

March 13th - Atlanta Motorsports Park

June 10th - Roebling Road Raceway

September 25th - Atlanta Motorsports Park

October 21st - Road Atlanta

Russ, my son Duke and I are interested in March event. Bar B Q at the track would be nice too.

Awesome, Tony. I think Mark is thinking about going, too.

I got an email today saying there are 25 open spots left. You can get details and register here:

I'm interested in Sep or Oct. Maybe we could get a big group.

Ted, that sounds like a plan. The more of us there, the more fun.

I'm torn about which track would be the best. Road Atlanta is awesome for all the obvious reasons. It's fast and famous. I always enjoy watching pro races on TV (like Petit Lemans) at tracks I've run.

Atlanta Motorsports Park is a really fun, tight, yet fast track. I haven't taken a "big" car there yet, but I think the Corvette will be a blast. Our torquey engines will like powering out of the tight corners, and there is a very long sweeping corner leading onto the front straight that will be pretty high speed in our cars (130 mph?). Of course, that means the brakes need to be in good shape for this track. AMP is relatively safe, but we'll need to respect that final corner and the brake zone at the end of the front straight.

Roebling Road is great, too. It is fast and has a lot of runoff areas. It's also near Savannah, which is a big plus for night and next day activities. The only downside for me is it is much more than the one hour tow compared to the other two tracks. Yes, I realize I'm spoiled living so close to several great tracks.

I have a couple of short vides of AMP here (in small cars): https://vimeo.com/russmcb/videos

Had a fun day at Atlanta Motorsports Park last Sunday. The day started wet, so I ran my street Goodyears at first, then the weather turned great and I put on the Nittos for the afternoon. Lots of fun, the car ran great. There's nothing like a track day and finishing with a car as good at the end of the day as when it started.

How do you like the Bakeracing tribute paint scheme (home cut black vinyl #4)? :-)
