what is difference in the blue label and black label zf6 transmission:salute:
The black label trans which was used with engines through early 1993 car production had straighter cut gears and a bit more torque capacity as a result (450 ft. lbs. vs about 400 as I recall). It also had a bit more gear whine so was replaced with the blue label trans for the remainder of production. The blue label one was supposedly a little quieter although I have owned both and could not tell a difference. My 1993 serial number 161 had the black label trans and I think was one of the latest to have it, although there were probably others after it. I can't recall if there is a way to tell from the outside of the trans which is which.--Bob

I have a 91' ZF S6-40 Transmission (Black Label) Parts List No 1052-000-035 with a collar diameter of 1.373 inches and a 94'-95' ZF S6-40 Transmission (Blue Label) Parts List No 1052-000-087 with a collar diameter of 1.305 inches.

a. Here is a source for the 90'-93' ZR1/LT5 Throwout Bearing Power Torque Systems Throwout Bearing (http://www.powertorquesystems.com/Corvette/CorvetteTB.htm) Part #: 23243
b. Here is a source for the 94'-95' ZR1/LT5 Throwout Bearing Power Torque Systems Throwout Bearing (http://www.powertorquesystems.com/Corvette/CorvetteTB.htm) Part #: 23244
c. This is exactly what the Throwout Bearing looks like as cited above in both cases as the differences in internal diameter is not noticeable from a picture only.

Oh....forgot to mention.....the Blue Label does not require to pull up on shifter ring to get into reverse.

I think only the throwout bearing knows :p
Pilot bearing and clutch/clutch fork do not know ;)
Bell Housing does not care :D

I have a Blue Label on my 1991 ZR-1

And you will know when you shift into reverse with the Blue Label not requiring to lift the shift ring.
