So I put a lift in the garage yesterday. I love it, problem is, now I can see how dirty the bottom of my car is. Guess I have some work ahead of me. And, I'm going to have to put a side mount operator on my garage door so I can put the lift all the way to the top. My lift will top out before the roof of the vette hits the ceiling (after the garage door opener is moved).

I put one in several years ago. Best money I ever spent. You'll love the side shaft opener too. They are whisper quiet when running.

Know what you mean. I clean mine front to back after any encounters in the rain (about four times in 10 years), and it's getting too hard to do on my back. It's the main reason I am looking at a lift too, but there are other advantages for sure.

Have a look at my garage n my albums section if you haven't already. http://www.zr1.net/forum/album.php?albumid=186 I agree I really like the Liftmaster 3800. On the lift itself I bought a 90 degree mounting plate for the motor and pump so I have plenty of room to walk by the motor on the front left post. Since the Liftmaster uses the steel cables to raise the door, put new ones on when you install it. I did not and last year one broke so my door went part way up on about a 30 degree angle and stuck there. Had to get the service guy out to fix. And did you raise the door tracks to as close to the ceiling as possible? I have mine about 6" off the ceiling (closer even than the older pictures show).--Bob

Garage looks good Bob. My tracks are about as close to the ceiling as they can be.
