View Full Version : Considering moving vacuum components from underneath plenum

A while back I eliminated vacuum operated secondaries. Currently I'm troubleshooting a vacuum leak and the thought occurred to me that I might be able to move my remaining vacuum lines to more accessible areas, and do some simplification.

Thus far I haven't thought of any reasons why they need to stay under the plenum.

I don't need to worry about yearly emissions testing. I might eliminate the vacuum from the evap canister.

I think it might be as simple as using the two side ports from the plenum - one for cruise control and the other for HVAC.

I'm not sure yet whether I'd need to use check valves.

Any thoughts or concerns?

TIA.

OK, I've come up with a plan I think will work.

I'm not going to keep my Evap system functionality, so I can plug that port on the bottom of the plenum and get rid of the larger hard lines under the plenum. I'll leave the electrical solenoid and attached electrical connector in place (doing nothing).

For HVAC and Cruise control, I'll use the easily-accessible side plenum port, passenger side, run a hose to a check valve first, then branch it to the HVAC, cruise control and "vacuum ball" in the left front headlight area.

Easy peasy. No more multiple places for possible vacuum leaks under the plenum.

Yes, thank you. I read those last night. They were helpful.
