I am less than 10 minutes from where this car is located. If you need help changing the injectors and repairing the vacuum leak (If there is a leak). I will be more than happy to help.

Why would this one go so cheap? Did I not notice a bigger red flag in the description than what was mentioned?
Obviously needs TLC, higher mileage, paint damage, and vacuum leaks mentioned. Is that alone what stalled bidding?
Rarer Charcoal color, No accident history, I'd say somebody got themselves a screaming deal ... unless I missed something.
Hope it shows up here on the forum.

the car just looks like it is worn out everywhere. the paint has issues, the interior trim pieces look scratched up,, the seats look tired,,, did you see the soaking wet engine compartment probably after a power wash by the dealer (see dealer plates),,, now you are going to have even more issues with flooded intake,,,so many little things just add up to a ton of stuff it needs. maybe it is just a vacuum issue,, maybe it is just lots of work and too many maybe's. It sold for what it should have sold for. It is a very cheap way to get into a zr1 for sure.

I haven't followed the link to see the car, but it reminds me of mine - Pretty rough, bought it for $10k. Have spent $7-8k more on it and it's well on its way of (re)becoming a great car.
So, it's great that people are buying cheap ZR-1's and reviving them. Fortunately, many of the parts & interiors are shared with the base model, so it's not hard to get new or good parts for cheap.
A lot like what they do on Wheeler Dealers (except maybe spend more than 30 minutes on it. :-)

Mine is in better shape and not for not much more. Price is what attracted me to buy one of these cars.

This car was for sale March '15, and I went to try it in Toronto. I even sent a PM to someone who was seeking for information. I remember it had 199,xxx kms (123,xxx miles).
These are some of the notes I told him:
-Power key is missing.
-Oil leak in front, passenger side. Seems to be a hard line, no big deal.
-Back bumper has a slight different color than the rest of the car. Some scratches here and there, but no big deal neither. Body is pretty ok.
-Transmission grinds in 1st gear.
-Gas pedal is broken.
-Windshield suffers of delamination
-Interior is decent.
-Engine runs like ****.
They were also speaking about the car there:

Unless your a talented mechanic I thin you may have to spend several thousand just to get it running properly. Once upon a time I was so proud that I bought the lowest price BMW M5 in the country, with Dinan exhaust, intake, chip and throttle bodies, according to auto trader listings at the time. I spent over 7k in the first year. Do I regret it? Not for a second I almost bought that car back instead of my ZR1, but the guy wanted too much for it. For what its worth my ZR1 would stomp that M5.

Always buy the best ZR-1 you can afford. Lower prices usually dont represent the best value in the long run. However if your handy and want to break into the bobby and dont have a lot of money by all means go for it. GC

While we're on the subject....Anyone know the story on this car? 1G1YZ23J5L5800933
Ebay listing claimed 6900 miles. Hit a curb hard enough to ruin the radiator and everything attached to it. Cracked two rims...I figured if I was going to bid on it I would assume the chassis was beyond repair. Some things looked like it might be low mileage, but others didn't. When I ran a carfax it came back with an incorrect mileage title at one point in its life.
First time around it sold for 10,800 which would have been fair if it was actually a low mileage car. Then it got relisted and sold for like 12,500. Too much in my opinion. I talked to the seller and he was either a liar or had no idea what the story was. Told me it was a one owner car....Um, it was a 5 owner car. I got the feeling the seller had a buddy bidding it up and the buddy ended up being the high bidder. Which explains why there is no feedback for either auction.

Ed spoke the truth. If a dealer is willing to let it go for $8K, can you imagine what he got it for?
That trans. needs a $2K+ rebuild, fresh seats, paint, and tires, might bring the bill to $8K, and if the engine just needs the usual injectors, some hoses, etc., another grand. By the time you're done, you're nearing a $20k investment.
For which you you could buy any number of relatively low miles ZR-1's, in good shape, with numerous spares.
But despite all that, this car still remains one of the best values in the Corvette hobby.

Okay, I am in for 7K. All I want out of the car is parts specific to the 90. If you want anything off the car give me a price you are willing to spend and the part is yours. It appears that all body panels are damaged.

I wouldn't bid a penny on this unless I could go look at it. It was sold no reserve both times previously. Which means two people bid on it, didn't want it, but didn't leave negative feedback...???? Doubtful. The evidence points to the seller having a buddy bidding it up. No one in their right mind would have bid 12,555 for that sight unseen. And if you saw it in person you'd have just offered the guy cash there.
Even after I told the seller on the phone that I ran a carfax and it was a 5 owner car, he still claimed it was one owner. There was also a mileage discrepancy on the title at some point. The exterior paint, even on the non damaged panels, doesn't look like 6900 mile paint.
If anyone would like a copy of the carfax I will gladly email it, just shoot me a PM.
BUYER BEWARE on this one for sure.
*edit
Actually, it's another user account selling it now with the original pictures. Original seller was allguy999.

Not much detailed info from the seller when I called, so I wasn't eager to make the trip to see his wrecked salvaged mystery car.
Engine has had paint refinishing & SS bolts, so we know someone's been into it.
On the top of the plenum I can see the remnants of a decal....415 ???
:-D...just kidding!!!
I'm interested in the mileage discrepancy info you discovered, just for my own education when it comes to buying & doing one's homework. Thanks!
