Just bought a 1990 ZR-1 with 10,500 miles. Basically a new 25 year old car! It seems to have most of the original coolant hoses. Can anyone suggest a source for a complete coolant hose kit?
This is a great site and I will spend a lot of time studying the postings.
Thanks,
Roger

Call Jerrys Gaskets he has all hoses you will need in either rubber or silicone. He is one of our sponsers and a forum member with tons of parts for sale specifically for our ZR-1 LT5 cars. Congratulations on your new ride. Nothing like a ZR-1.

First of all welcome to the board and zr-1 ownership. I'm happy you found us and a great car. What I'd be more worried about is if the injectors are original, if they are they will need changed. I sent you a pm, i'm no master mechanic but I should be able to lend you a hand if you need one. I hope you join the registry and join us at carlise

Welcome to "The Brotherhood of the Beast!"
Yes, Jerry's Gaskets (http://www.jerrysgaskets.com/) is the place to look first for all things LT5, and other parts as well. None finer to deal with anywhere.
And, this is the place for help with anything ZR-1 related: tremendous pool of knowledge here. :)

Have Fun Roger and Welcome
I would replace ALL Original Coolant Hose Clamps also........Aligning the Hose Clamps so the tightening screw can be easily reached by socket or screw driver. You may have to use a razor blade to cut lengthwise on some hoses after removing the Stock Hose Clamp to remove the Original Coolant Hose. I use a bit o Permatex on the inside ends of ALL New Coolant Hoses.

I may be wrong but I will not use clamps that is tightened with a screwdriver. They do not compensate for temp. change, where as the factory style does. HMO

JimJim, you're probably right, but having recently changed radiators and very old hoses, there was no way I was going to keep those PITA stock clamps. Just way too difficult to work with. Maybe with the proper tool they're not too bad.
A zillion race cars and production cars have survived fine with regular hose clamps (installed correctly).

Wow, you guys sure know how to create a warm welcome with loads of help already!
I attached a few pics, hope they come through. I wasn't crazy about the graphics but it seems to be professionally painted on under the clear coat. Except for the exhaust, the car doesn't have a spot of corrosion anywhere. Previous owner must've kept it in a zip-lock baggy lol.
Thanks again!!

Thanks for the compliments.
Bought the car at C Harper Chevy in Belle Vernon, PA. The original owner traded it in on a new Z06. They are going to put me in touch with him so I can ask him some questions.
I didn't realize the spoiler was non-stock. Came with the car so I don't know the source.
Kevin mentioned that I should replace the injectors if original. How can I tell if they are original?
Thanks,
Roger

the car looks great. Love that rear spoiler. The spoiler looks like it would come stock with that. Your engine looks in very good condition. Nobody has tried to ruin it with hard cleaners etc... it still has its original sheen. The graphics someone either loves or hates it. It is only important if YOU like it so enjoy your beautiful Z.

If you can get in contact with the owner see if he had them done, if not you're going to need to do them. The injectors in all the years don't deal well with today's gas. fuel injector connection is where most of us get them. Gaskets come from jerry. I've seen that spoiler somewhere else, I think it maybe in the current HOTB newsletter. What are the last 4 numbers of the vin. For instance mine is 1433

your car is near the end of the 1990 run. Last 1990 zr1 vin ends in 3032. Yours is 333 units away from the end. Mine is 3028 which makes mine 4th from the last. I also like the color of your car!!

I have #3032 ;)
I just read some information that was discovered by registry members that the actual amount of 1990 corvette zr1's was 3032 sold to the public with an additional 17 pilot cars. Apparently the Gm Archives dont show build sheets for 3033-3049 zr1's. The person working there, her name is Stacy, said there is no information past #3032. There is a confirmation of a red/saddle interior 1990 zr1 #3032 car. So if this information was correct, mine was 4th from the last zr1 built and sold to the public. Interesting.

Only 58,000 miles and total Top End Stock Restoration for 1990 #3032
Had to leave the Last 1990 Sold to Public Stock as had no choice if you know what I mean :D
Back to #2699...............I did see some minor differences between my 1990 #72 and 1990 #3032 both Red with Saddle Interior.
The differences show up if you are both near the front of the line and at the end of the line ;)

Welcome to the brotherhood. Is the car stock besides that borla exhaust? I'd love to hear a sound clip if you could post it. Never heard borla on our cars. I heard corsa and OBX

Thanks Johnny5. Yes other than the Borla exhaust and cold air intake she seems to be bone stock. It looks like someone has had the plenum removed because I can see a little gasket sealant weeping out so I am hoping the injectors have been changed. I am still waiting for the dealership to put me in touch with the original owner who traded it in on a new Z06. I'll try to get a sound clip this weekend.

Does anyone have a lift near me? I just bought a corsa cat back and I'm selling the OBX because I wanted a deeper growl. It is a great exhaust with no drone but I needed a louder one

do you already have your corsa or did you just order it?? they are on a made to order basis. I ordered my in early July and I just got it today. It is the best exhaust since it is 2.5 inches straight through. No resonator to rob you power and no drone just loud and thats good. Ever since I heard 5ABI's car in youtube I just had to have it. Corsa is just wicked sounding in the ZR-1. I will not be running cats and it will be just long tube headers and then the Corsa. Should be loud. Good luck on your Corsa cat back!

It should be arriving tomorrow or Monday the latest. Im hoping it comes tomorrow so i can install it Sunday. My friend has a quick lift but it would go smoother if i had A full lift. I heard that video and heard Rickys 95. Both had headers though. I cant wait to hear just the cat back. Shouldnt be as loud but should be perfect for me. With headers n no cats its a lil too loud for me
