hey guys. I'm the proud owner of a 1990 ZR-1 with only 8560 miles on it! I have been saving forever and looking for just as long, and bought this one from CT this last feb. It's running/driving and looks very good (as well it should with those miles!) but has some typical ZR-1 issues. I've worked through a few of them myself (just replaced the leaky oil cooler lines this week), but need to take it to be diagnosed for a recent misfire that it's picked up (I'm guessing that it's the injectors. the previous owner was fairly sure that they were the originals). there are some other issues too, and I'm trying to find a local ZR-1 specialty shop near me who is familiar with the C4 ZR-1? I'm located about 10 minutes south of Newark, DE (that's about 45 mins south and west of Philadelphia, and about an hour north of Baltimore). can any of you guys point me in the right direction? thanks!

Todd,
The short answer is there isn't one near you.

The long answer is there are only s small handful of shops that work on the Zr-1 is very short. Marc haibeck in Chicago. Lingenfelter in Indiana. South Georgia corvette in....Georgia. And Cory henderson in Texas. Local owners are probably your best bet

You need to contact Jim in Westminster, MD but he's currently on a ZR-1 road trip to the west coast (read about it HERE (http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25383)) and won't be home until later this month. Jim hosts a maintenance day from time to time where a number of ZR-1 owners show up and work on their cars ... there's a lot of knowledge/experience in that group and it might be the best (i.e. closest) option for you unless you can make it to one of the shops that Kevin mentioned. You might want to send a PM Jim to let him know of your interest ... I think he tries to check the forums at least once daily when he's on the road.

From what I have heard SGC isn't doing LT-5 work any longer. Given the car is a 90 w OEM injectors, I would look to do that first maybe combined w a trip to the WAZOO folks. Also, tomtom72 in Mount Vernon who has a 90.
Otherwise, go west young man. Don't forget PETE also in Windy City who does great work.

thanks guys! I've met David Johnson (about an hour from me) and we are going to get together next week and do a 'major maintenance' - new injectors, fuel pumps, actuators, coil packs, plugs etc etc. can't wait to feel what this ZR1 feels like when it's running like new!!! thanks again!

big BIG thanks to David!!! we did a full major 'under the plenum' service on my '90 ZR-1 (it was virgin with only 8500 miles on it); afterward, we took it for a spin and WOW!!!! now I see and feel how it's supposed to run!!!! :)

will be washing it and going to Carlisle this friday morning. first long trip in it since I've gotten it in Feb! thanks again to David for his knowledge and expertise -- I learned a TON working alongside him!!!!
