Has BB improved their system to deal with the drone issue?I called earlier today to ask about this and based on the fact that I couldn't get a straight answer out of the guy I talked to I would venture to say no.

if you buy the one with the flapper in the exhaust, yes

Same thing happened to me when I called Billy Boat in Arizona directly last December. If I recall correctly, I spoke with Mr. Boat's brother or some other higher up in the company and he could not give me a straight answer yes or no about drone. If you don't know then let me tell you, back 5 or more years ago all Billy Boat exhausts droned badly in all C4 Corvettes and C4-ZR1s. I love the Billy Boat clean design system and their clean looking mufflers .... If only the Billy Boat exhaust did not drone then (I think) tons of people would buy it.

The standard Tri Flow's have undergone several design changes over the years with each change adding a little more back pressure (smaller diameter outlets) in exchange for less drone. I found that replacing the resonator with an X pipe actually reduced the drone (and added power). I believe the latest generation still drones however.

The Fusion (dual mode) eliminates the drone, regardless of whether the valves are open or closed. But the Fusions have had a major design flaw that results in them developing a very irritating internal vibration and rattle after a break-in period. Some of us have gone thru mulltiple warranty sets hoping the next set will be the last. I gave up after three sets and switched to Stainless Works. Others are still trying.

The Bottom Line: It's highly unethical and even criminal for any company to sell a faulty product and in my opinion Billy Boat's exhaust for the C4 and C4 ZR1 is a faulty exhaust system because persistent drone or resonance over a period of time can cause permanent and painful hearing damage.

I have the BB with the square holes inside the round tips and I don't have drone. I also have an x pipe and stock exhaust manifold. It sounds great in my opinion. This exhaust was on car when purchased.

I have the "new design" B&B exhaust with X pipe (for sale, $700 plus ship) and the drone is minimal and only happens down really low around 1600 or so.

with 4.10 gears it's not bad at all and NOTHING like the first design which would rattle teeth and require earplugs. I also have a set of c6 Z06 tips than can be "grafted on" to replace both tips and give it a "corsa set of tips" look with a flapper. I bought this setup a while back to modify for replacing my current B&B (also with X pipe) and just haven't mustered the $$ and time, and honestly my existing exh sounds so good "wide open" and at crooze that I really haven't felt I need it much.

I travel in my Z often (92k miles) and couldn't stand the OLD B&B. the new design mufflers are very slightly more restrictive, but you won't miss the drone I assure you.

while you might sacrifice a couple of poinies (probably LESS than 5) with the newer design, the X pipe puts them back, and it's a very high quality system.

PM me if interested, it's been on ebay a couple of times but still for sale!!!
