That is soooooooo much fun :thumbsup:

I do that here in CA and SD once in a while....but in CA have to really watch for Highway Patrol.
I like those guys but a car in CA with Offroad Headers (legal in SD) is a special eye catcher for them :D

I think the traffic looks closer than it really is. There were several cars (what was that to the right??) that were going faster. A bit crowded however and in CA with those cars would have been a CHP close by :D

I have new respect for those CHP boys ever since one followed me on his motorcycle for a mile right on my tail and I had Off Road Exhaust. He checked me all out (I was cruising 45 mph in a 55 mph zone) and then he prolly thought "what the hay, he is just a hick from South Dakota with my SD Plates and driving like I was pulling an implement" :sign10:

I was actually on my "test track" where I test Modifications in the country (rural area) but I do keep an eye on patrol even in those areas.

Ahh I probably should have mentioned he honked at me a few lights back and gave me a thumbs up so I was trying to put a smile on his face ;). Generally.. im usually out at night around 1-4am when the roads are empty. I will admit that I was out during the day and Im much more reserved around any traffic etc but it was a little tempting to let him hear it and get it on the gopro. Keep reminding myself I better not let that little camera get me into trouble:mrgreen:

Hmmm, bet you didn't expect that folks would be critiquing your driving when you posted this, did you?

This is probably my favorite sound clip of an LT5 ever. Your car sounds amazing and the acceleration just looks brutal when you hammer it. Awesome video!

Yep......one of the best sounding ZR-1s and a great video (there are more videos in the Admiral 94 link below not to let the cat out of the bag) :D

A fun thread with lots of great photos/videos (very well documented)

Admiral 94 comes home - let the mods begin (http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c4-zr-1-discussion/3300001-admiral-94-comes-home-finally-let-the-mods-begin.html)

My 500 hp ZR-1 sounds about like that in the video shown here but I love that short shifter :p

and........YES..............there are many that appreciate what we do in regard to modifications (even the truckers)

Haha actually yeah it crossed my mind because I was close to a truck but I dont mind at all :) and thanks !! I am really happy with the sound. Just for the record I am using a small microphone outside the car . I routed it so it's invisible and facing the road behind the car and seems to work as hoped with no wind noise.

I have a few more videos from that morning .. One of deccel in gear in which the sound is like gunfire in saving private Ryan  I preferred the way it sounded on deccel before I removed the secondaries and had another chip done. I'm fairly certain I opted for the anti backfire Marc said he does and I'll have to talk with him about it but it definitely didn't snap crackle and pop before the recent changes. I'll try to get them uploaded today :)

Have Marc check his records. I had him reflash my chip after I installed headers, and the backfiring was OUT OF CONTROL! I contacted him and it turned out he had forgotten to enable the anti-backfire thing, which he took care of immediately. Could be the same issue on your car.

I sent him an email and my thoughts are exactly that. While it does sound cool.. for about 10 seconds... Im not much a fan of it. I know import crowds and turbo car people love it but that's because their cars sound like garbage:-D and they need something cool.

when I did the headers, it was pure muscle on deccel. I do have a short clip of the popping Ill post in a few seconds...

Heres an old video my friend made with his android phone .. you can hear the sound while decelerating.. no popping at all

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSfP1PJI304

And heres a short clip from the other day of the snap crackle and pop..

The snap, crackle, pop comes from excess fuel being mixed w fresh air sucked into the exhaust due to the high vacuum created on decel. Ever see any ricer with a "fart can" that isn't completely BLAAAAACCCK from the soot of too rich a mixture?

My tips don't blacken much at all but from what I know and can google.. that's the cause as you mentioned. Theres a dramatic difference from the first video though.. none at all.. and just excessive in the re-tune after the top end porting/secondary elimination

XfireZ51

Eliminating secondaries really doesn't have anything to do with it. On decel, the throttle is closed and secondary injectors are shut off. What happens is that with the changes, the fuel map needs to be modified. I have no secondaries, ported heads, more aggressive cams, headers blah blah blah. No gurgling.

If all you have is "popping" on decel, then it's probably not an issue with Marc forgetting to enable that feature. Mine was BACKFIRING!!!! I mean, pretty much every time I depressed the clutch pedal (even on slow 1-2 upshifts) the car sounded like it was going to explode. Popping on decel is just your low-restriction exhaust...my stock Stingray even does that when I have the valves open.

I hear you but play the first video I linked when I posted 2 just above.. That was with the same exhaust setup. Absolutely ZERO popping at any speed. The only changes since have been ported top end and secondary system eliminated. That's all. And now there is a lot of snap crackle and pop all the time. The only other thing that was changed was the chip was revised for secondary elimination and porting.

My Z is a mixed bag. It is fully ported, etc (see signature at bottom) and on hilly terrain (e.g., "the Dragon's Tail") on some decel stretches I'd get popping, etc. But, on others It would stall out until I blipped the throttle and it would "be nice" for a while. Probably needs to have hands "laid" on (the chip) at some point. Runs like a scalded dog, otherwise!

Thanks ! The gopro is on the r-d harness bar that goes across from the seatbelt anchors. I wanted a view where I could get the interior, out front and the sides for some roll on fun :)

Marc emailed saying the anti backfire mode was enabled. Hmm. The only thing that has changed is the top end porting and rutune. I double checked all the header bolts etc when underneath but I did remove the exhaust and reinstall it. I'll be doing fuel filter and while I'm underneath I'll check the exhaust connections.

Would o2s throw a code if going bad ?

Not if one is slow, You need to have it on a scanner to check them.

Hmm any special scanner ? I have a basic one but doesn't show O2 readings. My brother has one with a screen that does but not sure if it works with obd1?

I may as well change them any reccomendations on this forum to generally stick with ?

I was having some backfire on rapid deceleration and it was having a hard time stabilizing rpms at the same time, and some lag in light throttle response. I have a scanner that I can watch and capture data. What I saw was the right 02 was reacting very slow and not cross counting as fast as the left and the numbers were off compared the the other. I replaced both 02's got them from Jerry's car runs great now.

Let me add I still have secondary's and high flow cats this was on my 91.

Which o2s did you go with ? Wondering if people on this forum prefer a Bosch or denso (I'm a denso fan personally) or ac delco etc?

Nice clip. What is your rev limiter set at? It sure seems waaay up there.

And thanks for mentioning the exterior mic. and it's placement. I'm sure that's a big factor in getting that crisp sound. That has to be one of the best sound clips of an LT5, on the street, that i've heard.
If I ever get around to doing some GoPro vids, I've got an old Sony stereo mic. that if hooked up right gives a nice Dolby 5.1 mix. Surround sound LT5, yessssss.:dancing
