Hey, FBI'ers!!! We have received and invitation to attend a big Corvette gathering at the Autobahn Club track in Joliet, IL on Sunday, July 12. Mindy, representing Hawk Chevrolet, heard about our ZR-1 group from the Morris Cruise people and is interested in us displaying 'some of our pretty special C4 ZR-1s', and even taking them out on the track! This is a great opportunity to showcase the ZR-1s, and the FBI ZR-1s in particular!

For more info, check THIS LINK (http://www.windycitycorvettes.com/Autobahn.pdf#zoom=100) out, and let's get a head count of who might be interested! We've got a month to plan!

Be sure to submit your entry form in advance to save $5. ($15 if you pre-register) I'll see if Ami will bring the Turq Monster - or maybe get aomeone to drive it to the show (?).

How about getting Pete to drive it? He did the motor.

Paul, I am trying to get 4 cars down and four cars local. Local cars are pacecars and Grand sports.

Love to do it but I have a previous commitment on Sunday July 12. FYI, there is the annual Windy City Corvette Club/Bill Kay Corvette show on Sunday August 2 as well. It is at Bill Kay's Corvettes & Classics dealership on Ogden Ave in Lisle IL (not the old dealership location father west)--Bob

Paid for two cars, have two additional cars that are going to park with us. Lets plan on meeting somewhere before the event so we can arrive together.

Good idea!

There is a "Mr B's Bar and Grill on IL-53 'bout 1/2 mile south of the Route 66 drag strip which would be ideal for a rally point! We could grab a bite to eat, and buzz right over to the Autobhan less than 10 minutes away.

I am going to send mine in tomorrow. Will give the coordinator a call to get any updates.

BRING your helmets, just in case they require them...just a thought.

So what time do we plan on meeting there?

So what time do we plan on meeting there?

My original thought was to meet for breakfast or coffee at 8;30 ish, and leave to caravan over to the track between 9-9:15 to sign in. (Registration and Tech is from 8 Am to 10 AM, with the driver's meeting at 10:15 AM.) However, according to their web page, the restaurant, Mr B's, IS no longer open??

Let's rally at Mr B's parking lot between 8:30 and 9:00 ish anyway (I'll bring coffee n donuts) and then head over to the track shortly there-after, UNLESS in the mean time I find another convenient place to grab a bite nearby.

Keep an eye on this thread, and I'll post any updates, if and when I have any!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!!

Paul

UPDATE:

Scoped out a replacement for our rallying point - called the SILVER DOLLAR RESTAURANT in ELWOOD (http://www.eatbetterpancakes.com/) (very close to the Autobahn Park!). They open at 6AM, so if we meet at say anytime after 8AM, we'd have time for breakfast and coffee before heading out around 9AM for the track, which is only about 2-3 miles north of Elwood*.

Barring unforeseen changes, I plan on being at the Silver Dollar Restaurant between 8:00 and 8:15 Sunday morning and we'll head out by no later than 9:00 for the track.

*Suggest you take I-80 toward Joliet and then south on IL-53, (you'll pass the Chicago Speedway/Route 66 Drag strip) continue south to Mississippi Ave and turn right (west). The Silver Dollar is immediately in view as you get off of IL-53.

See you on Sunday!!

Paul this weekend is starting to look bad for me. The Weather forecast is saying 60% chance of rain. Driving 300+ miles in the rain in either of my cars is not fun.

Bringing the Callaway?

Trying to bring both. If Amy does not want to drive a car, I will bring the Aerobody.
